Has anyone been to both an After Hours Event (e.g. Villains After Hours, Disney After Hours) and a Special Ticketed Event (e.g. MNSSHP, MVMCP) at WDW? What were crowd levels like at each? I know COVID kind of threw everything up in the air, but I’m trying to figure out if crowd levels are pretty comparable at these events or if the After Hours Events have lower ticket numbers and therefore smaller crowds.

We’ve been to Disney After Hours (not villains) and MNSSHP (twice) and MVMCP (once). After Hours was May 2016, MNSSHP was Oct 2016 and Oct 2018, and MVMCP was Dec 2017. These were all a long time ago so take that for what it’s worth. We found 2016 HP to be less crowded and more pleasant touring wise than 2018. CP was more crowded in certain spots. It seemed like the trick or treating spread people more than they were spread at the Christmas party. There more crowds descended on Main Street since that’s where most of the entertainment was. The After Hours was empty! Seriously we felt like we almost had the park to ourselves. We started in Tomorrowland and rode almost every single ride that was open during the event. The longest wait we had was for 7DMT and that couldn’t have been more than 10 to 15 minutes. Everything else was literally a walk on. A lot of the ride operators were offering to let guests go again without exiting and going back around. During that event there weren’t characters or cavalcades like they’ll have with Boo Bash. It was rides and snacks. So 5 years ago there was no comparison, After Hours was WAY less people. That being said, I don’t trust Disney Corp to keep those levels low anymore. But I do hope yours is very pleasant and uncrowded and you get to do all that you want.

Have not been to an after hours event :( , but did do MNSSHP :apple: in 2019, on a Monday the 24th, week before Halloween :hatbox: , and it was not that bad. I’m sure Friday, Saturday & Sunday as well as nearer to the event being celebrated would be the pits. I rode SM 3 times in a row with probably 10 min wait max at the most. It did seem that the lines moved faster, like the people in them knew what to do and were not lollygagging around yip yapping and wasting time. it also seemed like everyone was nicer, not a lot of jostling for fireworks viewing positions, pushing everyone in front of them in the line, etc. I guess it is the “shred event” mentality. Even HM :tomb: was only a 20 min wait. Rides like BTMRR, that had no overlay, were walk on, I think we did it 2 or 3 times in a row. Well all except for Peter Pan’s Flight that was about a 20 min wait, don’t under stand that wait/popularity but that would be a topic for a whole other post. :surprised: We were also advised for MNSSHP :apple: to catch the second parade as lots of people with little kiddos go, watch the first parade and split. We did find that to be true. I’m sure the off ride activities also take pressure off the rides.

I have heard rumors that Disney MAY raise the prices on some events, but lower the amount of tickets to make them feel more “exclusive,” but that was/is just a rumor.

But agreeing with NASCFAN Your Mileage May Vary and trying to second guess the Disney Corporation is like trying to second guess what a cat is thinking. :cheshire:

@paydirtburt LOL thanks for your input! I also attended MNSSHP in 2019! It was October 17. From what I remember wait times weren’t bad. We rode Space Mountain twice in a row and got in and out in about 20 minutes. HM never dropped below a 40 minute wait but part of me wonders if they inflate the posted wait time to deter people from joining the line later in the evening.

I have been to both and the big difference from what I can tell is the After Hours events tend to have less crowds.
