Happy New Year!
Well, we are back from our 3 night WDW & 7 night Norwegian Cruise vacation December 20 – 30th, and it was absolutely amazing! Everything went surprisingly smooth, with great weather for all 10 days!
If you missed it… I had booked the WDW portion of this vacation with the help of our D-Cot pal @chelle and her travel agency , & also without telling my family I wanted it to be a surprise to them… and what a surprise it was! Of course they only thought we were going on a Cruise for Christmas, and had NOOOoooo idea that we were going to WDW and to the MVMCP !! If you missed the trip reveal videos, they are posted right HERE:
Surprise video part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ts12OPgONM
Surprise video part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYG2CU_Z6fo
Isn’t that awesome? I was crying in the video a little bit because I was so excited and happy
Anyway, we had a wonderful time on vacation for Christmas! I decided to write a little trip report here with pictures to share our experience at Disney during Christmas. We had previously spent the entire week of Christmas at WDW 2 years earlier, so this was just a short visit Because we had been to WDW during Christmas previously, we knew what to expect as far as wait times, etc… but we had never been to the MVMCP before, so we had LOTS to learn about that!
December 20th we drove to Raleigh, NC to the airport…
January 5, 2018 at 10:22 am #61566January 5, 2018 at 10:29 am #61576We checked into Southwest Airlines, and walked to our gate. Conveniently there was a bar right next door to our gate While Ethan settled into his seat at the gate to watch his TV show that he downloaded (Top Gear), Kevin and I went next door for a quick refresher. We tried to pay with our Christmas Colored Magic Bands , but the waitress looked at us like we were crazy
January 5, 2018 at 10:33 am #61580Our 6:50pm flight to MCO was uneventful. I had downloaded Season 1 of The Sopranos on my iPad to watch during this trip, so that helped to pass the time. We soon landed in Orlando at 8:40pm, and we were so sleepy and very excited! We raced through the terminal to get to the MCO monorail and made our way to the Magical Express!
January 5, 2018 at 10:38 am #61582I didn’t get any pictures on the Magical Express, but it was FULL! I think there was only a few seats left! We normally fly into MCO in the early morning, so this was a new experience for us to get there so late and drive in the dark to the resort. Our resort – All Star Movies was the 2nd stop. I had done the online check in, so we already had our room number texted and emailed to us… No need to stop by the front desk! Woohoooo!! HOWEVER>>>> because we had never been to this resort, we didn’t know where we were even going We stopped at Bell Services to ask directions, and also to ask for our Garden Grocer preorder – which they said was already delivered to our room! AWESOME!
We were starving, so we decided to stop by the food court for a quick supper. Because I have a Gluten Allergy, I have to be very careful when eating at Food Courts. I ended up getting a Greek Salad from the Grab & Go cooler … which ended up being delicious!
January 5, 2018 at 10:40 am #61585January 5, 2018 at 10:44 am #61588Ethan got Chicken Nuggets and Fries, which he said ‘tastes like Disney’!!! We purchased the refillable drink mugs, and filled up on coffee, iced tea, and powerade for the rest of our trip!
The food court at All Star Movies is very typical of all Disney Resort food courts. Because it was late at night, it wasn’t too crowded. They offered the typical burgers, pizza, pasta, and sandwiches.
January 5, 2018 at 10:52 am #61592After dinner, we headed to our room. We had only previously stayed at 1 other value Disney resort – Pop Century. We prefer to stay at Disney Moderate Resorts such as CSR, PORS, POFQ, and CBR, but because this was a quick trip on a budget we gave ASMovies a try! I booked the preferred section, which was the 101 Dalmation section. Since we had checked in online, I looked at my email and saw we had been assigned to room 4903 on the 3rd floor of the 101 Dalmations building #4. We quickly found our room, and we were really surprised at how much we liked it! The room was spacious and had cute little Disney touches here and there.
Ethan wanted to Skype call with his girlfriend in the room and go to sleep early, but Kevin and I wanted to walk around the resort! We only had 3 nights at the resort, and planned to go Rope Drop until Park Closing each night… so we had very limited time to check the resort out! We said BYE to Ethan, and headed to explore!
We went LEFT and ran smack into this guy at the Mighty Ducks pool!

Honestly? Both were awful! The bus service in the mornings was fair…. however the bus service after the parks close were HORRIFIC! Also…Our walls in the room were PAPER THIN and we heard people talking and toilets flushing! Even on the cruise ship a few days later we never even heard our neighbors at ALL.

Sorry to hear. We had similar experience at Music on our honeymoon years ago.
