That hurts. Now I have literally no reason whatsoever to fly into MCO
January 11, 2021 at 12:40 pm #144110You live central though, right? that would be one hell of a drive for you!
It sounds like this will be dependant on the granting of permissions for the railway link to WDW. that should be fairly straight forward

I usually fly into SFB and get an Uber. I flew into MCO once purely for the reason of having the Magical Express. I can get a direct flight to SFB but I have to have a layover to fly into MCO. It’s cheaper and faster to fly to SFB – even with the time and expense of an Uber.
The thing with the train though is then what when you get to Disney Springs? How would I get from there to Old Key West with all my luggage?

missingWDW183 XP@starbee yeah, I don’t see the train working for us either. Five people and all our luggage? Then what?
Resort bussing?
Ha, no
Taxi?
Ok, but then why not just do that at MCO and avoid the extra stop at Disney springs?I see loooooong driving trips in our future

Ok, but then why not just do that at MCO and avoid the extra stop at Disney springs?EXACTLY! I think I will continue to fly to SFB. What’s more, Universal has airport shuttles to their resorts now so Disney’s handing that win to their competitor
January 11, 2021 at 2:01 pm #144117Yeah, Stacey told me about it going to DS. It sounds real silly, dosn’t it? Fairly sure this is going to annoy a lot of people
January 11, 2021 at 2:15 pm #144119supposedly they are supposed to have dedicated buses at Springs to take you from train train to the resort, but then its wait for luggage, wait for train, wait for buses, check in with luggage if can’t get to your room yet….ugh
might as well just drive and deal with staying overnight somewhere on way down. likely cheaper than train tix for everyone, although who knows at this point what it will all be

yaywe can team drive it!!!
January 11, 2021 at 2:30 pm #144121Such a sad, sorry day. Bad move Disney, very bad move. Even with the train, to end it before that is up and running, such poor customer service on their part. I can’t imagine being a family, or really even just Kathy and I, shlepping our luggage from the airport to wherever the train terminal is going to be (it’s surely not going to be right outside like the buses) then getting it from the train to the bus stops at DTD. And then trying to get it on those “park type” buses to the resort! Nope. Just can’t see it. Bad move Disney.

So they just over complicated the system they already had and made it more time consuming for guests. Gotcha. Makes total sense

Business idea the “Even More Magical Express” service! Everything you know and love about Disney’s Magical Express but under new management. Now operated by a more caring operator, your very own – starbee!
January 11, 2021 at 3:04 pm #144124Brilliant idea!

Agreed, definitely a bonehead move on Disney’s part. I fully understand that Disney is a corporation and is in the business to make money, disclosure I am a stock holder, and has been loosing it hand over fist this past year, but this is the time you need to double down on customer experiences, not curtail them, especially with the 50th coming up.For myself and my wife we love the flexibility to not go directly to our rooms, especially if we fly in early in the morning. Just get off the ME bus at our resort and go directly over to the internal transportation option and Bob’s Your Uncle we are on our way. Plus, we have never been to MCO and not had to wait for the ME bus. I am assuming you will still be able to check in and drop your luggage off before check in time and they will deposit it in you room when the room is ready.
But where I think this is REALLY going to hurt Disney in the overall pocket book is not the arrival end, but the departure. I know every time we have been there in recent history we have chosen late flights back home, packed our junk up, checked us and our our luggage in, then split for a park to kill 1/2 to 3/4 a day. NOW I will have to do the 2 or 3 step of packing, getting them to hold the luggage at the hotel, assuming they will still do that, getting back to the resort, picking that luggage up, getting transportation back to the airport, oh yea gotta do that early because now I will have to figure in the extra time to check my luggage at the airport. If I want to go to a park or Disney Springs. UGH! Sound like a PITA, would probably just opt for a mid-day flight home at that point. Oh yea, since the costs of the rooms will not be lowered when this happens, that Uber ride to and from the airport cost will be deducted from my merch purchases and dining on site. Oh yea, and if you rent a car there is that pesky parking fee at the resort! Way to go!
Hopefully Disney will hear the hue and cry and keep some form of ME, even if they charge a nominal fee for it.

PaydirtBurt103 XPAlso, “Early Theme Park Entry” replacing “Extra Magic Hours.” What marketing guru came up with that name? Previously it was Extra Magic, now is just early, as in gotta get up early.
I think the concept is a good one to spread the crowds out by offering all parks but still, the name, it’s a dead fish! Or is it a dead parrot?!
Come on there has to be a better name than “Early Theme Park Entry.”
Morning Magic Time
Resort Exclusive Time
Extra Magic Half Hours
Well at least We Don’t Have To Get Up 30 minutes Earlier Hours
Resorts Park Perk Time (sponsored by Starbucks)
The Time That Shall Not Be Mentioned
Resort Opening HoursWhat’s next? “Magic Bands” replace with “Your RFID Band.”
Or did Joe Rohde suck all the innovation out when he retired?
