So basically, unless you’re staying at a deluxe, there’s no point in staying on property now. Right?

Such a stupid move. It’s strange, watching all of Disney’s cuts in these times and seeing Universal be able to consistently maintain nearly everything and even add things like an entire roller coaster. It’s almost like someone at Uni infiltrated Disney and made business moves designed specifically to funnel more people towards Uni.

    Sad and strange situation.
I can’t remember a time without MDE. I also can’t remember much of my 2 times riding it since I was so young, so I can’t say I’m emotionally attached, but I am hurting for those of you that use it because I know many of you do. It hurts, man.
Going to be an adjustment too. Like I said, I can’t remember a time where it wasn’t here. Going to have to adjust to not seeing the sign at the Resorts or seeing the big buses on the freeway. Going to miss their freeway presence a lot.

oh goodness @paydirtburt i was so fixated on the arrival mess that I did not even think about the return. so if my flight is at 11PM am I even going to be able to find a bus over to Springs if I take the train? and forgot all over again about having to check my own luggage. arrrgghhh Here’s hoping Mears buys all the buses and hires the drivers and leaves us this option at least. honestly I forget how the Mears return trips used to happen, its been so long. I guess we have a year to figure it all out. Uber and Lyft drivers will need to buy vans

SEJ101, as someone who has followed WDW for nearly 50 years I can remember with and without ME. For myself I have tried to use ME to my advantage every time I could and will miss it. I am sure part of their thinking is airline travel is projected to be down for another few years due to the pandemic and the return on the investment is not worth it. That said as I mentioned before I am surprised they did not continue it on as a paid option in some form, especially since the Minnie Van service has been terminated till the train is completed.

I will hold my judgement on the train, fair enough like Walt I love trains, to Disney Springs at this time since we don’t have all the details on how you catch it from the airport, how often it will run and what happens at the DS station, hopefully it will be back to a “you don’t touch your luggage from the time you check it till it arrives in your room” you just scoot over and catch the train, which would make more sense than this mass of humanity gathering their luggage and hauling over and onto the train. Once at DS my guess would there would be a bus terminal akin to the DS internal transportation or ME bus terminal but using the ME type busses to take you to your resort, I would hope that they would not be mixing the arriving/departing guest and internal guests. Plus, looking at Google Earth where the heck are they going to put the DS terminal? There is no room in/around DS, so more that likely it will be “near” DS not “at” DS, think “near” Disney property. Now from a safety/maintenance standpoint that would make more sense as you won’t have busses running on as many surface streets and highways and as far. Who knows, it may somehow be even less hassle!

I often wished that Disney would have ran a monorail from MCO to Disney. :monorail: I guess this will be close!

We have to remember, it’s not the mistakes you make, it is how you recover from them!

Possible train station location idea: Concept art for DisneyQuest included a Monorail. Of course, DisneyQuest is gone, but it’s not like anybody visits what replaced it. I mean they laid off all the staff there too so like…. :D ;) ;)

Assuming that the park is clean and safe to visit on October of 2021, and folks are vaccinated/keeping social distance, the Magical Express will reach its capacity the week of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.

If it’s gonna come to an end in 2022, the guests want to get their money’s worth!

Disney’s Magical Express, the mini-series, coming to Disney+ this fall!

Relive all those magical times! Sitting at the stop lights on World Center Drive admiring the traffic! Standing in the Orlando International Airport Magical Express queue wondering why those people in front of you don’t have their Magic Bands ready like you and your party. Racing on Disney internal transportation back to your resort hoping to make it in time to catch your ME bus. Wondering if that wet seat was from someone who went to the water park before getting on the bus or an overly excited child? Hearing it called the Tragical Express when you leave for the umpteenth time!

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you may even pee yourself, but you will never be the same after watching Disney’s Magical Express, the mini-series!

WARRSM, Mears is who runs the busses and owns them I think. And I can’t remember how they worked before ME either.

    Ubers with a trailer!

SEJ101 as one who works in engineering and is into trains, they are not related, it is hard to get a train to “go” just anywhere, the tracks have massive turning radius, 575 feet, if the train is to be able to do any speed. My guess would be that area southeast of World Center Drive and I-4. It will be interesting as the area between the airport and Disney is fairly congested with housing and businesses, less they can somehow down the middle of 417 toll road.

Funny thing is I was on a ME bus the blew the motor at the Poly, if it was not for them taking the checked luggage separate we have have been up a creek, it took them about 45 minutes to get the replacement there.

Oh yea, since the costs of the rooms will not be lowered when this happens, that Uber ride to and from the airport cost will be deducted from my merch purchases and dining on site.

I too understand they’re a business that needs to make money but this isn’t it. Like you said, they factor these costs into resort rooms. When they scrap this, those resort room prices won’t decrease, guaranteed and you’re right, that means less money to go around for something else. Plus, “reduced guest demand” WE’RE IN A PANDEMIC! That is sure to pick back up! Why not suspend it instead of scrap it? I think you make a valid point that it will hurt them on the back end. With all that hassle on check out day, that’s incentive for me to just leave early. Not to mention the knock on effect such as if people do cough up the money to park a rental car at a resort, that gives people options to leave the Disney bubble for their merchandise and dining needs. Disney loses money again. But I don’t have an MBA so what do I know?

Or did Joe Rohde suck all the innovation out when he retired?

LOL wow they’re hurting if he was all the creativity they had! And it’s looking that way! :P

This is why I chose to fly into MCO for Dopey so I could use DME. Prior to that, I usually had 2 suitcases and 2 backpacks for carry-ons. More than once an Uber pulled up and said they couldn’t fit that in their car so we had to cancel the ride and try again. I did not want to mess around with that with all the luggage I had for Dopey and with DME it was a breeze! Alas, no more.

Sometimes a MBA is not what it needed, commonsense is what is needed!

And those hauling 2 or 3 strollers! Would not want to be in that situation.

Starbee raises a good point with the cars. Already paying to park at the resort, dining much cheaper off site, souvenirs much cheaper off site. Also as others have said lodging off site is much cheaper for much better hotels. A premium was paid for on site because of the extra benefits. I see this really hurting them in ways they can’t even imagine right now.

This simply adds salt to the wounds when you consider that just a year or so back Disney started charging resort guests overnight parking fees at the resorts. This makes renting a car or driving to the parks even more expensive and impractical.

Business idea the “Even More Magical Express” service! Everything you know and love about Disney’s Magical Express but under new management. Now operated by a more caring operator, your very own – starbee!

Will the “under new management” operation be driven by Iago, and directed by Zazu :P
