My husband and I went to this movie on Friday. I read the book. He did not.

the movie was very emotional! It made both of us tear up multiple times!

The movie was roughly based on the book. There were many, many changes from the book. The first being the time it’s set in. It’s based in current time versus the 40’s/50’s (its not really clear) that the book was set in.

The movie was not bad. I didn’t love the movie, though. It didn’t really explain why IT wanted the kids. So anyone who hadn’t read the book had no idea why IT was so interested in these kids at all. It left a lot of unanswered questions. I think they spent so much time with the visuals that they missed a lot of plot.

The visuals were wonderful. They did a good job with that. But like I said, it was roughly based on the book, and therefore the visuals that were detailed in the book aren’t necessary what you’ll see in the movie.

I still enjoyed the movie and like I said, it’s an emotional movie. The basis of the movie was Love triumphs over Evil. So it is a good movie for kids. I’d still recommend people to see it, but would tell you to leave your book expectations at the door.
