Scavenger Hunt in/around WDW!!!
Hey Guys, This year our 7th grade reward trip is at WDW (it is every year) but this year I am a co-leader. WE thought our first night there about doing a Disney Style Scavenger hunt (or something like that) starting at Disney Springs and then leading to Resorts and Transportation. Depending on the participation level we may extend this to our entire trip which will encompass all four parks.
I am seeking To-Do’s, or items you would think would be great to add to the list! We are thinking the more difficult/obscure = more points. They will have teams of 5-10 people including a chaperone and will compete for Disney Gift Cards (or something smaller depending on our school’s budget).
Baseline parameters:
Starting from 5pm at Disney Springs and ending at 10pm at the starting location. They will need to get dinner in this time frame as well. They will have to take selfies or have “proof” of their checklist item. We are thinking visiting resorts, riding different forms of transportation, maybe having certain specialties that a resort is known for, getting pictures taken with staff (security, monorail, boats captains, etc.). I think if a group could make it all the way out to Animal Kingdom Lodge and take a picture with an animal would be worth a lot of points because of the time and effort taken to make their way out there.I would love to hear your ideas!!!
January 25, 2018 at 3:24 pm #64290This sounds really cool! I like your ideas so far too! Sticking with your baseline parameters:
1) Photo of teammates in the lobby of a value resort, moderate resort, or deluxe resort (maybe some bonus points if they get 2 out of 3, or more if they get all 3?)
2) Disney Vacation Club Logo
3) Photos from each section of Art of Animation (Lion King, Cars, Little Mermaid, and Finding Nemo)
4) Photos from each decade section at POP Century
5) Bring back an intact and unwrapped free sample from Ghirardelli (that might be an exercise in self-control)
6) Photo at Disney’s Boardwalk
7) Photo of the geyser at Wilderness Lodge erupting (I think it happens every half hour)
8) Photos of a real Mickey Ice Cream Bar (sold in most places) or Dole Whip (sold at Polynesian resort)
9) Something Marvel
10) Something Star Wars
11) Lego sculptureJanuary 25, 2018 at 4:16 pm #64293Seeing as I haven’t been to WDW I have zero suggestions but I LOVE this idea. When I was in GS, one year we sold so many cookies that the money we got from it was enough for us to go to Disneyland but we had to make it educational so we did things like got stopwatches and one person would time how long we were really in line for, or how long the ride actually lasted. We also had a yard of rope that was marked every foot that we used to measure the actual length of some ride lines. Sounds dorky but was actually a ton of fun!

Street entertainer on Boardwalk
A picture of Cinderella’s castle (can be seen by lots of places outside of the parks)
Picture of Spaceship Earth (can be seen from monorail)
Posing with a few selected items from World of Disney
Fire twirler at Poly (does he still do that most nights as part of the torch lighting ceremony?)
Points from each resorts swimming pool icon
Posing with a cast member from another country
Selfie with YeeHaa Bob
Picture of the Electric Water Pageant (Just make sure it starts early enough that night based upon the date you are there)January 25, 2018 at 4:25 pm #64296Some of these are really good suggestions!
Note: Wilderness Lodge Geyser goes off every hour
Here are a few from me:
-A Hidden Mickey
-Bus Trading Cards (because these are the hardest of Transportation Cards to find!)
-Horse at Tri-Circle D Ranch in Fort Wilderness
-Coca-Cola Store Polar Bear Meet and greet
– Playing on a playground
-Playing an arcade game
-Fireworks
-Splash pad
-All members wearing a sticker (these can be found in bulk at DVC stands)January 26, 2018 at 7:19 am #64349This looks like so much fun! Great suggestions above too. I don’t know if I can add anything constructive for pictures but I just love this!
January 26, 2018 at 8:51 am #64353These are all TERRIFIC IDEAS!!!!!!
The “bring back an un-opened sample from Ghiradelli” is fantastic! Self-control to the max, especially for a 7th grader!
Keep ’em coming, folks. I really appreciate each and every input! I want this to become a legendary event that future 7th graders talk about!

Good one!

That’s a fantastic idea! That was one of my favorite things about Epcot when I was growing up, getting to meet people from countries I will likely never go to and hearing about their culture.

January 29, 2018 at 8:32 am #64556a few suggestions:
– picture with the jelly bean goofy wall at candy company
– picture of someone getting “spit on” by stitch outside of the world of disney
– assemble a complete light saber in the toy store
– find a cast member with a specific pin (could be tricky!)
– eat a beignet
– picture of space mountain
– refill your mug at 3 different resorts
– get a set of sorcerers cards
– pose with a special hat (pirates? yeti?)
– pose with charactersand of course depending on the time of year there might be seasonal stuff to do!

If they are going to be in the park at EPCOT, Their name written in Chinese or Japanese (symbols)

12: Find something from another country (AKL? Raglan Road?)
