Has anyone seen it yet? How does it compare to the others?
I was not a fan of On Stranger Tides or At Worlds End but loved Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Mans Chest.I want reviews of people I trust (that would be you, dear D-Cotters!)
June 1, 2017 at 1:06 pm #30488I am debating between seeing this or Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend! The only comment I got from a friend was “more fantasy than the others but good.”

I’ve been arguing with my younger sister on this too! My parents will only pay for one movie. I want to see Pirates but she wants to see the first four (because she hasn’t seen them yet) before she sees the fifth. She wants to see Guardians because all her friends have seen it, and this debate actually dates back to November when we argued over Doctor Strange or Fantastic Beasts (Moana won though).
June 1, 2017 at 1:15 pm #30493@ bexruns We saw it this weekend. It was good but not great? Loved the action but thought it was missing some of the comedy that the others had. Also, felt like they were reaching for a story line. But it was entertaining and family friendly. We did enjoy it. I agree with you on the other ones!
@ stupidjudy LOVED Guardians of the Galaxy!!June 1, 2017 at 1:22 pm #30496@ stupidjudy LOVED Guardians of the Galaxy!!
Ok, I think I will go see GoG and wait for Pirates on demand!

Good choice! I vote GotG!
June 1, 2017 at 1:43 pm #30510I was so disappointed with On Stranger Tides that I can’t bring myself to pay to see this movie, which is sad. I loved Curse of the Black Pearl!
June 1, 2017 at 1:46 pm #30514Honestly I get them all mixed up, which one was Stranger Tides?
There wasn’t much buzz about this movie, a few commercials, that’s about it, not much on social media. Nothing like Beauty and the Beast anyway!
June 1, 2017 at 3:08 pm #30558Stranger Tides was the one before the newest one.
I vote GotG, it’s really really fun!
June 1, 2017 at 6:42 pm #30617I vote GotG also!! Lots of moments.
June 2, 2017 at 5:37 am #30636We didnt even really consider seeing POTC over GOTG. I do agree that the majority of the POTC story lines have been week. My 2 fav’s were Black Pearl and Stranger tides.

The 4th movie

I can’t think of Vol. 2 without laughing
June 2, 2017 at 9:14 am #30740Even if you say it’s the third or fourth movie, not helping, need bits of story to situate myself.
In any case it doesn’t matter, I will go see GoG this weekend!
June 2, 2017 at 12:37 pm #30830We lucked out and saw it before release, on our cruise. (Pirates of the Caribbean… in the Caribbean! How cool is that !?!)
Both DW and I agree, the movie was good, but not the best. Better than the last one, and floats somewhere in the middle of the others.
A little thick and predictable on the love story aspect. The Fx were very good. Storyline fair to good. Jack Sparrow seemed a bit tamed down as a character, and I think I was hoping for a bit more oddness. It is worth seeing, and if you are a POTC fan, I’d say a must-see in theaters. 3-D was nice, but not enough to feel pressured to splurge on it.
I’d give it a 3.5/5
