I’ve seen a couple times in the last couple of weeks someone go from 0 to -1. How does that happen?

Following as I’m curious too! I have lost points before for adding a comment and then deleting it or something (and that makes sense), but not a whole level!

@steve does this have to do with people who were already members and just now logging into the new version? It’s the only thing I can think of. When we first logged into the new D-cot all of our XP levels were cut in half. If someone didn’t have an XP level to begin with (a very low active member) then I could see it going negative.

I think @Nascfan got it right. So what happens is, there are actions you take that will take points away. For example, if you favorite a song you get 1 point. If you remove a song, you lose one. If a member already had an account from the old site, they would have most likely already had favorites. The XP was cut in half on the new site so the member could potentially have started at 0. If they remove a song from their favorites, they are now at -1 points which is a negative XP level.

Another scenario that could happen is the user is brand new and takes some actions that might remove more points than they have already gained. I’m not saying this example is a rule, but for the sake of an example the user might have added a favorite which now they have a total of 1 point on their account. Then maybe they deleted two activities from the feed which lost the 2 points. Now they are at -1.

The next time this pops up for a member, I will look into their account to see what the situation was that caused it.

Cool, thanks for the response. I was just really curious how that happens so I don’t fall victim. LOL

So I did a little experimenting last night and it seems adding a song to your favorites gets you 1 point but deleting a song removes 2 points. So if you were to delete 5 songs from your playlist and then add 5 songs, you’d lose 10 points then gain 5, so you’d be 5 points down from what you were before you deleted songs. Therefore you can go down an experience level pretty easily.

When new members only have 10 slots in their favorites, they end up deleting and re-adding songs frequently, meaning they will very easily go down to level 0 or -1.

Can you provide a screenshot of this? I tried testing this and it only removed 1 point for deleting a song. I looked at your points log and I do not see any -2 points.

I also just removed the ability to go negative experience levels. If you are below 0, it will just take longer to get to 1.

Sure! My Dashboard says -1 point for deleting… but when I look at my xp points, 2 points have been removed for deleting only 1 song

Hopefully this works, if you click to make it bigger, you can see my points in the red square on the left side before I do anything

Next I deleted just one song and you can see that in my Dashboard and it says -1 point
