High School Musical: The Ride.
There is something wrong with you. A big something.
June 20, 2018 at 3:46 pm #80447I enjoyed GMR. It was always a highlight of the trip to the Studios. I do think it’s a bit outdated, I had never heard of any of the films in the ride (excluding Wizard of Oz and Mary Poppins) before riding it for my first time in ’08. As time went on, the more dated it seemed, but it was still fun. The Alien scene was my favorite, but I think that a good Alien attraction would really only come from Universal. I also think GMR’s closing was ill timed. The park seemed pretty empty at the time, but still doable. Now it seems like a waste of money/time.
The new Mickey ride was something I was very excited for when announced at D23, and I can’t wait to ride it. I love the “new” Mickey shorts that it is based off, and it looks to be a very exciting and technologically advanced ride. Just wish it came a little sooner or later than the new lands.June 20, 2018 at 3:48 pm #80448I had never heard of any of the films in the ride (excluding Wizard of Oz and Mary Poppins) before riding it for my first time in ’08
I pride myself on having seen every movie featured in The Great Movie Ride

I definitely agree! They should not have closed as much as they did, all at once. It has made the park kind of a waste of time because there’s hardly anything to do and everyone is cramming to do those same few rides, making the wait times horrendous. There was no need to do it that way. Also they shouldn’t have close stuff 2 years before doing anything with it, in my opinion, that just made things worse. But, I digress
June 20, 2018 at 3:52 pm #80451I didn’t mind GMR, but it wasn’t my favorite. I enjoyed it on a rainy day or a hot day.
I am excited for a Mickey directed ride. I think that was really missing since they took away Mickeys Toontown.
June 20, 2018 at 6:09 pm #80476This was an attraction that could have been updated easily… especially in the queue area (movie screen) and the end of the ride (movie screen)… they could have just shown different movie clips in these areas… this could have bought them enough time till Star Wars Land opens up THEN close GMR for a make over. My $.02
July 10, 2018 at 6:12 pm #82369I really loved the GMR. Yes it had gotten a little hokey and frayed around the edges, but an update would have really made a difference. As an old movie fan – I loved riding through all the old classic films that my mom and I had seen. I think they could have still paid homage to those and added some newer ones. In fact they should have been doing that throughout the years. I really am sad. And I love the Grauman’s Chinese theater replica. I saw that long before I ever saw the real one and appreciated what a good job they had done. I have always loved the old Hollywood theming and I hate that it seems to be going away little by little.
I’m excited that there will be a Mickey ride I just hope that it is really spectacular – Mickey deserves it. And they darn well better replace a favorite with something spectacular.
July 12, 2018 at 10:13 am #82484I wonder if they like to replace rides that have high operating expenses with cheesy cheap video game rides.
hmmm
