Since @grumpytude inspired me last evening to pen an eloquent tribute, I figured I’d share here, for posterity.
What I’ve always enjoyed about Condor Flats is the bombastic exuberance that comes with the territory. Disney hit the nail on the head by picking a set of heroic songs… and knocking the soundscape of that land out of the (California Adventure) park!
Whereas the Soarin’ queue has its ebbs and flows… where the wonder of flight captures you in all its adventure and tranquility, Condor Flats bludgeons you with the understanding that you’re standing where heroes have trod. These are those who blazed a path to the stars — and John Williams and friends successfully transcribed their achievements into the universal language
for all of humanity to enjoy.
The Condor Flats loops — take your pick — both provide a satisfyingly joyous, rollicking aural ambiance to a land that I savored during my whirlwind visit to California Adventure back in 2008.
