I’m moving this post from the main page to the forum.
“Hello! This is my first actual post I believe and it’s a very important question!
My sister and her family (and myself) were due to be in Disney World for their first trip EVER for Memorial Day week which has been postponed until next summer. Her kiddos are 9F and 7M. We are all SUPER bummed we can’t go but my sister said she wants to make a “Week of Disney” for their first week of summer next week.
I NEED IDEAS! She’s looking for fun crafty stuff. I suggested coloring/drawing contests with the Characters or making some of the many recipes that have been recently released. Some movies are a MUST!
Does anyone have any other fun ideas for them!?”
May 15, 2020 at 2:21 pm #133701I’m sorry, I had a trip cancelled too but I think that’s the right move because for their first visit especially they should see WDW at its best, not with half measures.
I’m not very crafty but I like our ideas of coloring and the Disney recipes! One idea I thought of is Disney Parks Blog is currently doing halfway to Halloween activities. They could dress up in costumes one day? Or what about a Disney themed treasure hunt? Hiding Disney inspired trinkets around the house. You could also grab some Mickey ice cream bars from the grocery store
May 15, 2020 at 2:26 pm #133702yeah – even if the parks open I think we would have still postponed. And honestly I’m kinda glad it got pushed back… I didn’t want them to see Epcot full of construction walls… and being able to say they are going to be there for the 50th anniversary will be neat!
I like the idea of the scavenger hunt! I’ll pass it along!
May 15, 2020 at 2:33 pm #133703one thing i usually do is make little bags…i hang them on their bedroom doors. ours are star wars bags so they got labeled “Yoda bags”. every night i’d put something in them and then in the morning the kids would check and find something cool and vacation themed. i’ve done everything from disney chapsticks to pins to things i’ve made like chapstick holders, key chains, tsum tsums, light up rings/necklaces…the options are endless! go to a dollar store and stock up!!
May 15, 2020 at 2:35 pm #133704I love that idea for maybe when we are closer to the trip! Like a countdown!
It’s perfect!
May 15, 2020 at 2:48 pm #133705I’m sorry the trip was postponed. For a first-time trip it should be the absolute best and doing it for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary will be even more special! If you need help with trip planning, our friends at Off to Neverland Travel do a great job. Our resident agent, @Chelle, is fantasmic.
I digress! A really fun activity would be to celebrate “This Day in Disney History” for each day of the week. Use this website to look up the history of Disney and do something themed in that way. For example, May 18th in 2015 Pixar’s newest animated film Inside Out premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

Exactly!
