On our final Disney day We had reservations at Kona Cafe! We packed our things up and loaded the car before breakfast because we weren’t going back to our lovely room
At Kona Cafe we got a welcome back card! I think this is a nice touch and our server was on point We ordered the standard Kona Blend coffee. Christy went with the traditional Tonga Toast (photo), but I just wasn’t feeling the toast this time around so I ordered an item from the menu I’d never seen before: Loco Moco.
Loco Moco is a “Traditional Island Brunch staple which features a tower of Rice, grilled Hamburger Patty, House-made Chorizo Gravy, Two Eggs-Any Style, and topped with Tomato Salsa” (photo) It sounded exciting, but what I got was surprisingly bland for something with salsa and chorizo gravy I’m kind of surprised they still have it on the menu.
As for the Tonga Toast, it was just how we remembered it…on the outside. The inside had like 2 or 3 thin slices of banana There used to be like half a banana in that thing!
Fortunately the manager stopped by and asked how things were. We mentioned our disappointment in the Tonga Toast particularly and he promptly had it removed from our check! He also said he’d inform the chef to make changes We made sure to tip the server as though it was still on the menu though because something like that wasn’t her fault and as I said, she did a good job. So food-wise, clearly Kona was severely missing the mark for us. It *was* Christy’s #1 Disney breakfast spot and my #2 spot, now it’s like #5 for both of us (and we’ve only been to 5 table service breakfasts on property). Boma is solidly #1 now for both of us.
After breakfast we took the to Magic Kingdom and got our picture taken (photo)! I wear my sunglasses at Disney, so you can’t, so you can’t see me blink like my wife did for all 5 photos!
We then headed off to Tomorrowland!

85glht22 XPKona has lost its luster for us… we don’t go there anymore
October 17, 2018 at 6:33 pm #91631…continued…
Over in Tomorrowland we got a chance to ride Space Mountain twice! If we weren’t pressed for time, we could have gone a 3rd time. For that ride photo we pulled our “To Infinity and Beyond!” poses We also went for a ride on Space Ranger Spin and were focused as always (photo). From there we strolled over to Fantasyland for our FP+ on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Sitting in the very back, we probably had one of our best experiences on that ride!
While in Fantasyland, we also got on Under the Sea, then we headed back to Tomorrowland. We took a nice ride on the PeopleMover, and then the Carousel of Progress We also saw the show at the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. I was tagged as “feels the urge to get up and dance” At least I wasn’t “That Guy”!
We did a little bit of shopping as we moved back down Main Street, and then took our final ride – a round trip on the WDW Railroad!
After that we took a final ride back to the Polynesian.

Back at the Polynesian we decided to grab lunch at Capt. Cook’s. We’d never ordered food there before so this was another new experience for us.
Christy ordered the Seafood Curry (photo) or something like it (it’s not listed on the menu anymore). I ordered the Pan Asian Noodles with Vegetables and Shrimp (photo).
Both of these had hearty portions, were served piping hot, and were delicious! Definitely worth a return visit in the future!
After lunch we went back to Disney Springs for some last-minute shopping. I wanted to get some Joffrey’s Tea for my best man as we were about to visit him and his wife for the weekend near Tampa.
At around 4:00pm we left WDW in our baffles and made the drive to Tampa. We weren’t at Disney anymore, but we had fun times and lots of good food over the weekend.
Sunday afternoon we began the long drive home with an overnight near Savannah, GA. Our wonderful trip had come to a close

October 24, 2018 at 6:24 pm #92973What a nice last day! I’m sorry your breakfast at Kona was a disappointment this time around. We’ve never eaten there. I have had the Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks! That was several years ago and remember it being tasty! Glad your lunch there was a hit though! Good job getting in several rides before leaving our happy bubble! Thanks for sharing your anniversary trip with us! It really seems like you had a great vacation!!
October 25, 2018 at 8:43 am #93040@nascfan – On Buzz and Toy Story Mania she is always laser focused because she’s trying to beat me. She never comes close, but to her credit, she never gives up!
@eeyorepoohfan – This trip aside, the only downside to Tonga Toast at Capt. Cook’s is that they don’t have the strawberry sauce which just makes it so much better! Thanks for reading!
October 25, 2018 at 4:33 pm #93110I guess it’s a good thing that I hadn’t tried the full version! So I didn’t know I was missing out!! But it was still yummy!!!! I loved reading your report! Thanks for sharing!
October 25, 2018 at 9:42 pm #93125Wow, it really sounds like Kona lost its personality. I know a lot of people who love the place (I’ve never been myself). Boma is a solid #1 choice for breakfast though!
Feeling boogie fever is much better than being that guy! I hope you showed off your amazing dance moves!
Sounds like a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing! -
