Getting from non park place to hotel

Can I ask a logistical transportation question? We are dining at Sanaa one night and don’t have a car (will be taking bus from AK), what’s the best way to get back from Sanaa to our hotel (that obviously isn’t AKL)

Depending on the time after your dinner you could take a bus back to AK and then your resort bus. That’s assuming AK is still open after dinner. Or you could always just grab the first park or Disney Springs bus that shows up at AKL and then transfer to your resort bus from that stop.

is that a long trip? it will be late, so AK won’t be open. and it’s our first day and her bday, so I don’t want to be on the bus until super late trying to get back

depends on where you’re going. if your hotel is close by one of the parks that’s open, or not too far from Disney Springs, maybe that’ll work ok if you want to trade time vs. cost. another thing to consider since it could be late when you get out is to try the Minnie Van service.

bus rides from Animal Kingdom Lodge/Kidani Village do seem to take a while, but sometimes that has as much to do with the perceived distance from those resorts to other places, versus the actual distance. you may have fewer options if you’re leaving late, depending on where you’re heading.

what general area are you trying to get back to?

Don’t be afraid to call a cab. Just ask the valet folks outside AKL/KV to hail one for you. If your party is larger than 3 or 4 you can request a van at no extra charge. It is SO much nicer to just *get there* as it gets later into the evening. When we were there in January, we cabbed it from AKL (dinner at Boma) to Caribbean Beach. I want to say it cost somewhere in the $15-$20 range (including tip) just because AKL is so far away from everything else. I know it wasn’t more than $20. Other cab trips around Disney property were more in the $10-$15 range.

I know that the buses and other Disney transport are already paid for but, I have been stuck in nearly 3 hours of transportation hell with an exhausted party of 6 and I have learned without a doubt that I’d rather just part with the $20 than the extra hours that we could have been recharging for our next park day.

Yep, the cab or Minnie Van is always a viable option. Transfers can take quite a bit of time, especially later in the evening.

I checked into the Minnie Van, it’s $25. Has anyone used an Uber? The estimate it’s $8 from AKL to Pop. (We’re staying at Pop because I got the deal on Southwest Vacations for airfare and hotel for $1000)

Uber or lyft are much cheaper than the Minnie vans. And if you sign up your first ride comes with a discount. wait time is very minimal. Great service.

For first timers, it is a discounted ride? I thought the first ride was free? Maybe they changed their policy?

I think it depends on the cost of your ride. When we signed up to Uber last summer we got a $15 credit or something like that. Our first ride cost $10 so it was basically free because we used the credit we had.

If you want a speedy trip home, I think you’re going to have to skip the Disney transport. There’s no way to get from AKL to Pop without transferring at either Disney Springs or a theme park. How long that takes is going to depend on how quickly a bus arrives at AKL and then again at wherever you transfer. Like @connie96 said, time is money. $8 for an Uber doesn’t sound bad at all. I have used Uber, but not at WDW.

We Uber’d several times our last trip just due to bus lines. It was very efficient and economical. Of course, it does cost more than the free transportation but for the time you save to do other things it is well worth it IMHO. I am talking for dinner ressies etc.

I would use the mini ubers or the buses depending on the time at night

I highly recommend the Naan with the assortment of dipping sauces. OMG
