A few years ago my husband and I did the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot, and there was a plant named “Oscar” whose leaves would close when you touch it. Does anyone know if it is/was a Mimosa Pudica, or a Biophytum Sensitivum? I thought I had it written down somewhere but I can’t find it anywhere. I did order some Mimosa Pudica seeds to try and grow my own, but I was just wondering if anyone knew which one it was.
Thanks!
May 26, 2021 at 9:19 am #148923Update: Someone on another forum I’m on shared a video that says it’s a Mimosa Pudica. My plantlets should arrive by the end of this week- I’ve always wanted one of these plants ever since I saw it on the tour. I’m excited to try and grow it!

May 26, 2021 at 10:27 am #148926I’m so glad you found it! I couldn’t figure out what it was but that’s excellent. And you’ll have one of your own!

May 26, 2021 at 10:56 am #148930I will definitely post pictures! I ordered some seeds, and a couple of small plantlets. The seeds are supposed to come today, and the plantlets by the end of the week. I love plants, and I like to try and grow different types. So far in my house I have 7 different varieties of African Violets, a succulent Fairy Garden, a hen and chicks, an aloe plant, a bamboo, a spider cactus, a Christmas cactus, and a Thanksgiving cactus….I told my husband our living room is starting to look like a conservatory, and he just laughed. I have the Mimosa Pudica coming, and some shamrock (Oxalis regnellii) bulbs coming- they’ll have to be an inside plant as it’s too cold up here for them to survive outside. Our growing region is 3b…

June 4, 2021 at 4:28 pm #149151I remember during a trip to Walt Disney World in 1990, our family took the “Behind The Seeds Tour” at EPCOT’s Land pavilion. At that time, my niece and 2 nephews were 8, 6 and 4. Of course they all had their autograph books with them. When they all asked for an autograph from our tour guide, the young lady cast member must have turned seven different shades of red! She was so embarrassed that anyone would want her autograph that before signing each book she wrote a sweet little message to each of them. All in all, those three kids were as thrilled to get her autograph as the cast member was to give it.

Thanks! Here’s hoping I can take good care of the plant. I’ve heard their easy to care for, they just need a lot of light, so he’s a permanent resident under my grow lights….
