Disney’s Latest TV Spot Pulls the Heart Strings
Disney hits it home with their latest TV spot saying “Because they’re only little for a little while”.
Pardon me as a get on my soap box on this chilly Monday morning in Central Florida. As a parent with 3 4 kids (twin 7 year-old boys, a 3 year-old girl and D-COT đ), I can attest to the “heart strings” comment.
I’m going to say it… I am spoiled. Living 20 minutes away from Walt Disney World makes it extremely easy to take my family to visit The Mouse. However, it wasn’t always that way. I’ve only been a Florida resident for 10 years. I was a boy growing up in New Jersey for the first 28 years of my life. My parents would take my brother, @eric, and me to visit Disney World every year since I was 5. We were definitely “Makin’ Memories“, as the song for the pre-show to the Kodak-sponsored attraction Magic Journeys clearly states.
Let’s take a look at the video
Pretty crazy, right? If you’re a parent, especially if your child is an adult now, I’m sure there might have been a tear or two show up under your eye(s). As I watched I figured it was going to be a typical commercial with the young child visiting their favorite princess and the parents looking on with smiles. Nope, they totally faked me out and cut to a scene about 15 years later where the dad is watching the video on his phone while his daughter is getting ready to go to college saying âyouâre going to miss me.â He responds teary-eyed and with sarcasm, âIâm not even going to notice youâre gone.â
This is where the tear showed up. Why? Because in 15 years my daughter will be getting ready to go to college too (or just becoming an adult in general). This commercial reminds us that our little ones have to grow up and we should remember to make magical memories while we can.
What do you think of this TV spot?

This was like a punch in the gut I don’t have kids yet but this still makes me emotional because I remember being that small child at Disney with my family and realizing how much everything changed when I went off to college. We still take family trips but it’s different as an adult. Also, I feel like this implies you stop going to Disney when your kids are grown and I disagree.

Guess I’m hard hearted. Didn’t affect me one bit. Nope. Not. One. Bit.
