Episode 1 discussion/spoilers
“Glorious Purpose”
It’s the thing that Loki said he was burdened with, and it’s also the name of the premiere episode. It picks up where we left him in “Endgame,” when the time-traveling Avengers accidentally lose the Tesseract, and Loki takes off with it. That’s when things get… odd, to say the very least. The TVA (Time Variance Authority) pick him up, and then… well, I’m not sure how I can say the rest, without showing clips from the series. If you’re familiar with “Doctor Who,” then this series will be a breeze for you. Otherwise, hold on to your hats.
Yes, there is a lot of comedy, but serious moments are handled quite well by Tom Hiddleston.

“The Variant”
Loki helps out the TVA, and finally runs into the dangerous variant that the organization is chasing. If you’re a fan of Doctor Who, this episode is right up your alley. The episode even takes a glimpse into the future of the MCU, and… it’s kinda dark.

“Lamentis”
The title is the name of a planet in the future, where the majority of the action takes place. This is more of a character-driven episode, than a plot-driven episode, but this was integral to the plot. In this episode, we find out more about Loki, as well as the variant (who prefers to go by Sylvie) The two are stuck on this planet, and need to leave immediately, due to that planet being obliterated in the future — that exact day they arrived, to be precise.

“The Nexus Event”
A flashback at the beginning shows Sylvie, as a child, taken away by the TVA. After she escapes, the episode picks up where we last see her and Loki — trapped on a planet that’s about to be obliterated. Escaping SOMEHOW, the TVA capture them, and that’s when Loki tells the truth about that organization, but… how can you believe the god of mischief? A lot of twists and turns in this episode, and a post-credit scene that cannot be missed.

“Journey Into Mystery”
Loki is now meeting… himself. Variants of Loki are mocking him, helping him, and motivating him to do his best, while they’re all stuck in this… trash bin, for lack of a better term. They want to know who, or what, is running the show, and Loki feels that the answer is in that void they’re all stuck in, but now it’s just a matter of how to reach the boss.
There are a lot of Easter eggs in this episode. It’s crazy.

“For All Time. Always”
Loki and Sylvie now meet the “man behind the curtain,” as it were. If you’re a fan of Rick and Morty, or Doctor Who, you can comprehend how twisted things get, from here on out. If you’re not a fan of either show, just hang on.
Also, before we meet “He Who Remains,” we get the most adorable jump scare ever.
The end result of this episode changes things in the MCU… forever. This is not hyperbole.
