Epcot update

I hope the resort is modeled that Walt dreamed of?

I would tooooootally stay at the new Epcot resort… so exciting!!!

starbee makes a great point in the sense that a lot of the recent designs seem a bit short on theming. I think there’s a combination of the “in” architectural aesthetic that the design teams are going for with all the glass and geometry, use of daylighting and emphasis on energy efficiency (which I support, but there are also subtle ways to do this), and I think most importantly, cheaper, faster construction. None of the recent design renderings have said “hey, this is a building that could only be a Disney resort!”

I understand design and construction budgets, plus the need to be able to operate and maintain efficiently, but the resorts are supposed to add an element that you can’t get off property, and if the only differentiation is Extra Magic Hours, the nearby resorts are going to clean up even more than they already do based solely on price.

The new park entrance to Epcot looks like it will be really pretty! I can see it looking even more magical during the Flower & Garden Festival. I’m kinda surprised that they chose Wonder of Life to house the Play Pavilion, it sounded like it would replace Innoventions. Since it’s not, I wonder what will be moving in there?
