Inspired by a recent convo with my pal @disneybug… who would you want to see cover a Disney song? I frequently gush about David Benoit’s Spectromagic Medley that’s on the jukebox. Sir Elton John did a fun piano rock version of I Just Can’t Wait to be King. And I also enjoy the Barenaked Ladies’ version of Grim Grinning Ghosts.

But what songs haven’t you heard? Or what artist do you want to take a stab at a song? Can be a silly nod or a serious one.

I’ll straddle the middle: Coldplay would do an interesting job on two catchy tunes from the dustbin — If You Had Wings and Dreamflight. Each one actually seems like it could fit the trippy, flighty style of some of their pieces — Clocks comes to mind! :note: “If youuuuuuuuu…. had wiiiiiiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiings………………. ohhh if youuuuuuuuuu…. had wiiiiiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiings………..!” :note: LOL

Any nominations of songs and their artists? :D

You know, I think Josh Groban or Andrea Bocelli could do some amazing Disney covers.

Agreed! They both have such powerful voices! We love Andrea! One time we caught Time to Say Goodbye playing in the Italy Pavilion! It. Was. Epic.

There’s a band I’ve come to really like in recent years (Lord Huron), and I’d like to hear their take on some Disney classics. One that comes to mind is “Oo-De-Lally” from Robin Hood. ;) A couple of their songs I love are “Time to Run” and “Ends of the Earth.”

I do think Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli could could just about any of the iconic Disney classics. It might be cool to hear Josh Groban cover “Golden Dream” from the American Adventure. I could totally hear Andrea Bocelli cover “Bella Notte.”

@PA_Timekeeper Thanks for starting this great thread and for tagging me in it! ;) It’s a fun and interesting topic with a ton of possible responses! I’ll have to think on this for a bit to come up with my response. Omg yes Coldplay would definitely need a song like that haha! LOL

Yes! I agree that Coldplay could do some interesting things. That’s a band I’d like to hear cover some Disney classics.

I know I’m showing my age here, but I loved James Taylor’s “Our Town” from “Cars.” It might be cool to hear him James Taylor-ify “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”

This makes me think of Disney Mania which was some of the worst music I’ve ever heard. To be fair, it was covers by amateur artists, not professional artists.

@PA_Timekeeper @Ferg @disneybug Have you guys (and gal) heard the Mumford & Sons cover of Robin Hood’s “Not In Nottingham?” It is a great take on it.

That’s awesome! I’ve always been partial to the Suburban Legends cover of Gummi Bears:
