Say goodbye to the Disneyland Rainforest Cafe, ESPN, Earl of Sandwich, and AMC! :| Four diamond resort! Disney has hinted that these companies may have domain within the resort whatever that means
October 25, 2017 at 8:10 pm #53620TBH, I am not that excited for it. Downtown Disney is already really small to begin with, so for the company to be taking a huge chunk out of it makes me sad. I love me some Earl Of Sandwich so I am extremely sad to see it go. I also loved going to the premiers with the red carpet and celebrity sitings and enjoyed the AMC theaters there.
October 26, 2017 at 1:04 am #53621seems like they are slowly getting rid of Downtown Disney as a whole. Doesn’t seem like a good move
October 26, 2017 at 6:48 am #53627Yikes! Thats crazy… I feel like they should keep a shopping area such as Downtown Disney for guests to BUY MORE STUFF!!

But if check it out, the rooms will probably super expensive, the hotel needs a restaurant and shop, and World of Disney would still be open. So they still technically have a “shopping area”
November 1, 2017 at 10:11 am #54040It sounds like they MAY try to keep some of those within the Hotel though, I’m hoping Earl of Sandwich will be for sure. I mean the line for that is always RIDIC.
Also, this is pretty much why all Disneyland runDisney races are on hiatus. Our start/finish line area is right where the hotel will be built.
November 30, 2017 at 6:41 pm #57299I know that Disney had promised Anaheim a 5 Diamond hotel. But the reality is that very few families will be able to afford to stay there! In my head, this means that the rooms will be at least at the level of Grand Californian, but likely higher. I’m sad to see Earl of Sandwich go and I really really hope that they do put it into the hotel or Downtown Disney somewhere. The renderings look nice. But it doesn’t feel like Disney to me. And of course, this is what helped to put all Disneyland races on hold, along with all of the parking structure construction. However, I still think they could have figured out a realistic alternative and kept the races, but that’s just my and !
November 30, 2017 at 7:04 pm #57307Even the Grand Cal is already a stretch price wise! A regular room is about $400 a night, and thats during off season on a week night. I looked for what this weekend might be and we’re talking $800! It’s insane!
November 30, 2017 at 7:21 pm #57310Exactly!!!!! I always think to myself, who on earth can afford that?! And at DL, it’s not as crucial to stay on property for most people since there are so many hotels right next door for a fraction of the price! I can see it for people who only plan on going once in their life or every so many years. But the prices are insane! It will truly be for the wealthy. Have you checked the prices over race weekends?! That were so insane!!!!
December 1, 2017 at 10:16 am #57395Yup, thats why we wind up staying at like Best Western or one of the other hotels. I mean, where my mom and I stayed during Tink wound up being about $110 a night. Which is UNHEARD of over a race weekend. We booked the hotel the same day registration opened last year so like 8 months in advance or something like that.
December 2, 2017 at 5:41 pm #57517So crazy!!! Our last few DL trips were over race weekends. We stayed at BW Stovall’s and Pavilions. I think they were between $130-150/night. But on off season we can get them for $100-120/night.
