So the question is, if you had a chance to go back and visit Walt Disney World at any given time in it’s history when would that be and why?

So, while I would love to have seen the site in it’s natural state prior to the park or go back to 1972 and follow little PaydirtBurt around at the park, my year to visit would be 1983. For me THAT was WDW. Why you ask? Well, the “World” was smaller back then, seemingly less crowded and EPCOT :epcot: still had that new EPCOT smell and had a focus on infotainment. In the MK You still had the Main Street Arcade, Skyway, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and 20,000 Leagues under The Sea and Frontierland, while now boasting Big Thunder, was not marred by the location chosen for Splash Mt. (I’m not against Splash, just it’s location). Resorts wise the Contemporary Resort had no “external distractions” and I always loved riding the boat from Fort Wilderness to the MK and seeing people playing tennis by the CR. It seemed so cosmopolitan to me. Speaking of Fort Wilderness, ahhhhh, River Country, Discovery Island and what seemed like really fast Water Sprites, the little power boats for 2 that you could rent. Plus Walt Disney World Village was such a quaint place.

Well that was a walk down nostalgia lane!

I would love to visit this exact time and see everything you described! It sounds like something that would mean a lot to me.

But, if I’m having to pick one time, I am going to have to go with – believe it or not – something a little more recent. I think AROUND the year 2013-2014ish. This is because this is the time, for me, when I have the most memories of going with my wife and three children, and WDW was just not quite yet at the “there is no off season” in terms of crowds. We didn’t have Genie+, we still had Wishes and Osbourne and Maelstrom, and you could “just pop over to Epcot for dinner” still. I miss those days!
