    My husband is a college golf coach in Texas. He applied for a position at a college in West Palm Beach. Though he didn’t get the job, we asked ourselves if we would like being that close to Disneyworld. Would it take away the magic? The answer was no…how nice it would be after a long week to spend a weekend at Ft Wilderness. If we lived closer or actually worked for Disney, how great it would be to just chill and walk around. Even to this day, when the weather is surprisingly pleasant, we will say “This is EPCOT walking weather.” My husband will tell me “I had a great nights sleep. I’m up for driving east.” Our son was a cast member on two different occasions. He loved getting off work and just walking around on nice nights at the parks. If I could live in one of the cabins in the 100 loop, I’m there!! ;)

    @starbee ooooh i didn’t even think of that! getting to go for an opening day, or buying LE merch at disney springs… i’m the same though, disney springs is always my lowest priority but there’s SO much i still wanna do there!

    @Julia oh and I forgot to say that one thing I would definitely do is hit up the water parks! We always have such bad luck with those! We’ve been trying to go to Typhoon Lagoon ever since Crush ‘n Gusher opened! In 2015 it was closed for refurb when we went, on our next trip in 2017 the weather turned cold (I’m talking 50 degrees!) and we couldn’t go, and then on our most recent trip in 2019 the day we planned to go it closed due to storms! With FP+ and ADRs it’s not that easy to just pick another day. Since we can only take a trip every other year, when we miss the chance to do things like that it’s so disappointing because it will be so long before we get another chance. If I were local I could hit it up whenever and I absolutely would!

    So, given all obstacles (including my son’s health issues) had some sort of solution, I would still be in the ‘No’ camp… sorta…

    I wouldn’t mind owning a home down there. Something close, but not too close to the world. Anything to make taking vacations easier spur-of-the-moment. But, I’m in agreement with others that if I had too much opportunity to go, the magic would lose its luster. Plus, even without that level of availability, I find myself more jaded with WDW by the year.
    Having been a number of times, traditions and preferences develop. Experiences build certain expectations. Increased opportunity opens the door for those things to be lost… I want every time I set foot on property, to be transported away from the outside world, and have the opportunity to experience nothing but joy with my family, friends, and everyone we meet. If finances, life, and employment could allow for just yearly visits to the world (and an occasional extra trip or two), I’d be perfectly content!

    In a heart beat! Even with the practicalites in the way! For what i paid for a 3 bedroom semi detatched house in the UK my dads boss got a six bedroom villa…. Seems to make sense to me!

    Only down side is the 9 hour flight & 3 – 5 hour drive (depending if we fly from Manchester or Hethrow) to visit family haha, but more than a few of them would be happy to come to me too :)

    Tell me about it! People always say to me “why did you leave your job in London?” because now I’m a homeowner for only $200/month more than what I was paying to share a 3 bed flat just outside of London! Too much :gold: Yeah I don’t miss the drive to Gatwick/Heathrow

    @starbee     I live in the North east UK, so we’re possibly the cheapest property you’ll get in the UK as its considered poorer (traditionally coal miners, sailers & farms ect). My home is not in the greatest of areas and is only around 1100 sq ft, with a drive but no garage and it cost me £130,000. My dads boss got his villa the same year with six bedroom, double garage, double drive, swimming pool, cinema room, air condiitoning and only 25 mins away from WDW. All for £12,000 less than what i paid for mine haha. It just makes no sense! Espeically since the average wage for my profession is slightly higher inthe USA than the UK. I’m beginning to wonder what i’m still doing here???

    Well I’ve lived in FL since I was 9 nine years old, so I guess it’s cheating to say I’d move here. But there’s no state income tax, which makes it an affordable state to live in. Problem is most of the jobs are in the service-industry sector and not very high-paying. I’m fortunate to be in a position with a decent-paying job. But my wife used to live in Canada and when we met online, she already had plans to move down here one day. So that didn’t take any convincing. She’s been here since 2014 and other than missing her family and friends, she loves it and wouldn’t dream of moving back.

    However in your scenario, since Genie has already handled the money and job part, it’s a no-brainer to say I’d move (stay) here! LOL

    At best, I would be part time. My retirement home is in Colorado. I can’t wait to live our my life there.
