Why D-COT…It still applies

There are so many reasons I love this place. I used to listen to Disney music on Sorcerer Radio, but I wasn’t crazy about the format. I also used to be active on another Disney message board, but basically quit because people were just rude and nasty. I got absolutely destroyed by people over something really silly, and I realized I didn’t need that negativity in my life. I found this place after a friend recommended it to me, and initially I just listened to the music. It was a great way to pass the time at work, and make my day a little brighter. When I found the forums, I admit, I was nervous it would be fraught with a lot of the same negativity that other Disney forums seem to have. This one was different though, everyone was SO NICE, and I realized that this place was filled with a bunch of people just like me, people looking for a happy place.

I don’t know how we got the best of the best, but we did and I’m so glad! True Disney fans are the best!

Why D-Cot?

I was in search of some disney theme park music one day and found another website (which is now defunct). After that site went the way of the dodo, I continued my search and came across D-Cot.
Life gets busy and occasionally I forget about it (please forgive me!) but it’s always nice to come back and be welcomed by such awesome people each time.

For me the question of “why d-cot?” is similar to “why WDW?” The reason my family and I keep returning to WDW is because it’s comforting to visit a place where we can enjoy ourselves being ourselves, have fun, feel safe in a familiar environment, and just relax. Part of it is nostalgia given the memories of watching my children grow up all too quickly in the thousands of photos I’ve taken during those trips, but part of it is always discovering something new to enjoy as well. I’ve found the same type of environment here at d-cot, and the jukebox allows me to relax while listening to the park music-sometimes feeling nostalgic,and this also this seems to be a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment. Thanks for building that kind of online community while providing a valuable music streaming service as well!

Like the OP, I was searching for Disney park music. I used to post for years on a Passporter page and it was like a strange cult. lol The mods had their own private forums and it was like a clique of mean girls. They actually had a group that would go on trips together and they called themselves the Clique or CLQ..something along those lines, but they would talk about people behind their backs and such. (a friend of mine became a Mod and quickly quit because she didn’t join in on the mean talk) Very immature, and God forbid you had an opinion that didn’t jibe with the majority! I’m a pretty outspoken person and it seems I’m often in the minority on a subject, but I’m never nasty about it. Boy they hated that I wouldn’t conform. lol I’m sorry but I like to hear the good the bad and the ugly when someone asks for an opinion. To me you’re doing a disservice if you only mention the good and not the bad. Anyway, I found this group and am finding my way around and everyone seems to be very nice. I’ve told my friend from the former group about this one and hopefully she’ll join in!

This is so much more. What you and Chelle provide here allows all of us to revisit those memories and joy. This site is a conduit of memory. On top of that, Chelle’s skills in planning vacations, in my opinion, is invaluable. I considered myself no noob on the Disney planning site. But, you know what? You dont know what you dont know, and Chelle knows. You cannot afford not to use her services.

JMHO but the Mods here truly embrace their Disney side and allow us to have the fun and relive the memories only Disney can provide.
