thekillingjoke5 XPJust booked our trip at the end of October!
August 29, 2018 at 5:07 pm #87039going for the first time in september! i’ve never been to a festival before… anything you guys highly recommend???
August 29, 2018 at 10:01 pm #87065@julia my first time was last October. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by the amount of food booths. They are literally side by side, I think they’d be on top of each other if they could! Get a map from one of the online sources before you go….Disney Food Blog, Allears, WDWNT, possibly easyWDW, possible Disney Parks Blog, I’m sure I might be missing some others. Menus are pretty much up now, especially WDWNT as of tonight with prices. Plan an attack. Seriously. This is not a “just go in and see what looks good.” You will surely miss more than you get to try. If you have the luxury of a few days at EPCOT try to group some areas of the map together to try on certain days. That will save you from running back and forth and criss-crossing. My daughter and I had what had to be 40 to 50 items that we wanted to try over three days. We got to all of them but one. And that wasn’t due to lack of time, it was due to lack of belly space. A well planned attack is essential to trying as many things as you want.
August 29, 2018 at 10:18 pm #87067@nascfan oh wow thank you so much scott! i bought the book from DFB but there’s sooo much it’s almost overwhelming. i’ll have to come up with a plan of attack. any items you recommend?
August 29, 2018 at 10:38 pm #87071@julia it really can be very overwhelming! My Field General, as I called my daughter during our planning, did a phenomenal job plotting what to get where on what days. She saved us a TON of time and walking by grouping as best as she could.
Items to recommend: some of our favorites:
Ghiradelli drinking chocolate
Earth Eats – Ricotta and Zucchini Ravioli
Farm Fresh – Crispy Chicken with griddled cornbread and red eye gravy
Almond Orchard – Banana almond soft serve sundae with berries and oats
Thailand – Marinated chicken with peanut sauce and stir fried vegetables, this was a real surprise of the trip at how good it was!
Canada – Le Cellier beef filet mignon – expensive but so worth it as that is the steak they serve in Le Cellier
Belgium – beer braised beef with mashed potatoes, belgian waffle with warm chocolate ganache and whipped cream
Ireland – warm Irish cheddar cheese and stout dip with Irish brown bread, Warm chocolate pudding with Irish cream liqueur custard
Drinks:
Refreshment Port – Dole Whip with rum, I put this under drinks because of the rum, word of advice, Stir it! It’s very strong at the bottom otherwise!
China – Happy Peach with Peach Liqueur and Myers’s Dark Rum
Islands of the Caribbean – Frozen mojitoAnd these are the top, the very top choices. So many other good food and drink, but these were probably our favorites.
August 30, 2018 at 3:51 pm #87208@nascfan oh my gosh that all sounds soo good!! that belgian waffle is calling my name! it’ll be my first time being 21 in disney so i will definitely make sure to try the dole whip with rum!
August 30, 2018 at 4:05 pm #87212@julia you’re going to have so much fun! That waffle…. ! I have to tell you, as a parent, there is nothing like going with your adult child when they can drink at Epcot too! I hope you and your mom have an absolute blast!
