a general lack of focus and direction, tearing up large sections of multiple parks at a time but not fixing the simplest things (the poor animatronics at CBJ and CoP). all while prices go up, benefits (magic bands, fast passes, magic express) disappear and the only thing they can advertise is “come stay where the magic is”? i’m taking a break for a while from the parks until they get their act together.
To me, benefits are the cheapest and easiest thing they could do to offer an incentive to visit. But they think they don’t need to offer any incentives. They feel like they are so well loved, they don’t need to make an effort, people will show up and beg Disney to take their money. Also with price hikes, they see Disney as a whole corporation, meaning prices don’t directly correlate to what you are purchasing. Remember when WDW experienced price increases and entertainment getting cut because Shanghai went over budget? I’m not going to Shanghai, why should I have to pay more money to visit WDW to recoup Shanghai’s costs? Because Disney doesn’t see that as 2 different things (let’s make Shanghai guests pay more for their experience since we’re talking about Shanghai’s budget) it’s all the same company to them so it doesn’t matter where they recoup the costs.
But for me, I am also taking a break until they can pull their heads out of their you-know-where. I’m not paying an extra $500 for an Annual Pass (vs the price I paid in 2019) to 1) not get a Magic Band, 2) not be able to show up as and when I want to, 3) not get my park photos, 4) not be able to park hop until after 2pm, 5) have to pay even more money for a service that used to be free after just paying an extra $500. In addition, I’m not paying more money to stay on property when I 1) no longer get early park entry, 2) don’t get DME, 3) don’t get a Magic Band, 4) don’t get to have my park purchases sent to my room. I refuse to pay more for less, I don’t care who you are.

Sounds like manifesto! Viva Che starbee!
September 19, 2022 at 2:47 pm #159779holy crap @starbee it’s worse than i thought! i knew the PH hours (which is crap) but it is silly to still make people choose a park…where’s the fun? the spontaneity of deciding “i feel like AK today!”?? i didn’t know that you couldn’t send your purchases to the hotel anymore! or no pics with the passholder? i saw the writing on the wall when they started charging for parking…$13-$30 a night for my car to sit in your lot? well how convenient for you to drop ME and force more people to rent vehicles.
what’s next…park transportation? $5/day/person to have transportation to all the parks!! what a deal!

so sad that this once family friendly ( families of any means) were able to once enjoy this place for a somewhat reasonable price. But as those with deep pockets and no care of the actual Disney history keep paying Disney will keep pricing us 99% out of the market.
I will no longer support a place that goes out of its way to price gouge and strip away the once welcomed perks of being loyal fans. When its cheaper to fly halfway around the world and stay away for a week than a trip to Orlando Florida there’s a major issue in my mind! Good luck Disney with your new elitist clientele that will in no way loyal repeat customers as we all once were. Sad, sad daySeptember 19, 2022 at 4:30 pm #159783Sounds like manifesto! I have thought many times about writing an open letter to Disney, but I’m sure it would fall on deaf ears

They don’t want spontaneity. They want to do things on the cheap. So maybe if there’s only 10,000 going to AK today we won’t run the tram in the parking lot. Reservations are permanent so they can keep tabs on you. They introduced these things under a guise (social distancing for reservations, 2pm park hopping to avoid abuse of the virtual queues, no sending things to your room because “rona”) but then left them there. You can add PhotoPass to your AP for I think it was $149? Can’t tell now because they’ve stopped selling APs. So I would be paying an additional $650 to get the same AP I had in 2019-2022

so sad that this once family friendly ( families of any means) were able to once enjoy this place for a somewhat reasonable price.I agree with you. It burns me up when people say “Disney’s a company out to make money like everyone else”. Yes and no. They’re out to make money, sure, but what used to set them apart was family values and being somewhere that was accessible to American families – no matter what that looked like. That is long gone. Additionally, do those people think a company like Universal aren’t out to make money? And yet they don’t nickel and dime me, they are very accessible to me, make me feel like royalty as an Annual Passholder, and thus I have visited Universal Orlando 3 times in the last 12 months, retained my AP with them since 2019, and plan to renew again next year

Even as a stock holder I have also thought about writing, but feel the “EH, they don’t care” also, I’m small potato’s. Probably not the right attitude to have, but it is what it is.
