Vero Beach & St Augustine – 5/5/17 – 5/13/17

Friday 5/5/17 and Saturday 5/6/17
We left Toledo at about 2:00 pm after getting off half a day early. We had rain from Toledo to Knoxville with some dry spots. The rivers were overflowing and farm fields were lakes. After Lauren and I took the earlier shifts, Ben drove almost all of Georgia, at night! Poor guy. He was a trooper though. Kathy relieved him some.
We got to Steve and Michelle’s a little after 10:00 am on Saturday. We had just a wonderful visit with a cookout and enjoyed every minute of our time with them! We spent a glorious 6 hours with them and didn’t want to leave! It broke my heart to drive away with them standing and waving in their driveway.

We drove to Vero Beach, just a gorgeous resort! We got 1st time buttons on check-in. When the cast member checking you in says, “oh that’s a nice room,” you know you’re in for a treat! We walked into room 2223 and knew instantly that it was worth every penny! The balcony view was a perfect view of the ocean!

After dumping our luggage we walked the beach for a bit, then found the market place, which is basically their counter service area. They have refillable mugs! And they transfer resorts, so if you go to WDW first or vice versa, the mugs work at both places, so no need to purchase separately. It took all of about 30 seconds before we were buying one. A CM saw our 1st time buttons and asked if we’d each like a complimentary Dole Whip. Yes please! Is that even a question? After enjoying those and checking out the pool area we went up to the lounge and split a Pina CaLava and some warm pretzel bread. No joke, this was as good as what they serve at Le Cellier! After enjoying our snack and drink, we all decided it was bed time after a long drive and a fun, fun day.
