    Wednesday 5/10/17

After another gorgeous sunrise, seen from the balcony of our room overlooking the beach, we went into the town of St. Augustine. This is my family’s favorite city wand we were hoping Ben would like it also. We needn’t have worried! He loved it and is already counting the time until we go back! We had a great day, staring out at the Castillo de San Marcos before moving on to the Pirate Museum. That is such a cool place! They really did a nice job with it and we spent more time there than we thought we would. Ben thought it was just the best! We enjoyed some lunch at one of the local places on St. George Street and then did just a little shopping before touring the Old Jail. We rode the trolley around most of the city before heading back to St. Augustine Beach. We stopped at a Publix to pick up a few things for Friday which was our planned beach day and then enjoyed a fun round of mini-golf and some delicious ice cream cones to top off the evening. It was a fun day and we are so glad Ben fell in love with the city like us! Something we were really noticing was the lack of crowds, at all the places but especially St. Augustine and St. Augustine Beach. We hit Florida just before the summer people and it was nice! Had the place practically to ourselves!

We had more things we wanted to do in town, and even the second day wasn’t going to be enough to see everything, so we headed back in after watching the sunrise over the ocean once more. It was a bit hazier and we noticed the faint smell of smoke in the air, and we found out later that there was a fire somewhere off in the distance due to the drought. Not enough to ruin the day, but you could notice it. We split up for part of the day so each of the couples could enjoy some time together and do what they wanted at their own pace. Kathy and I toured the Oldest House which was fascinating. In all our trips we had not gone through that. We then took a nice leisurely walk through town, looking for houses for @eeyorepoohfan and us. We texted her each time we found one and she’d look it up for us to see the price. Well, we found out we definitely need to win the lottery! LOL We enjoyed a nice lunch and some real shopping, picking up the souvenirs we wanted and then headed to Anastasia Stat Park on our island, which Kathy had been wanting to see for some time. It is a really nice park with a great beach area, campers would love it there! We had to get some laundry done so we met up with the kids and did that back at the hotel before heading back into town for the evening. We had a ghost tour booked for that night. We all walked around a bit more of the town before the tour, looking at the beautiful old houses and all enjoyed the evening’s time on the tour. It was lots of fun with some great stories! All in all, everybody had an enjoyable day and had fun with all they did.

Two amazingly famstastic days!! I had so much fun looking up the houses and prices!!!!!! There are more reasonable house prices inland, but that’s not as fun!!! Win the lottery already, would you?!?! LOL I’m so glad you got some couples time and did your own tours and things! So fun! I’m glad your haunted jail tour wasn’t too scary!!! I really can’t wait to go to St. Augustine!!! I think I will fall in love with it!
