PaydirtBurt103 XPI would say I am torn on this ride. I love TRON, especially the original. but this, a roller coaster, as a ride concept I’m not quite warming to. I’m sure in the end it will be great and I will like it, we all know they could use some more “thrill” rides but lack “Tomorrowland” Disney related IP themes to inject there. I mean, what is there? TRON and the Black Hole!?!?!? Which begs the question of what to do with the old Mission To The Moon/Mission To Mars/Alien Encounter/Stiches’ Great Escape building.
What I would have liked to have seen is a VR game where you get on one of the bikes and are actually on the game grid and you race against others, think the original TRON game amped up, would have been a good concept for Disney Quest, RIP. The other would be a VR version of the tank game.

Perhaps it would have served as a far more appropriate venue for some Marvel or GOTG themed attraction, than Epcot & the UoE… just my 2

PaydirtBurt103 XPAgreed, but I’m not sure how I feel about Marvel or Lucas Films properties in the Magic Kingdom, I think I would prefer it to be Disney IP. and begrudgingly Pixar, just because it is hard to distinguish a difference between Pixar and Classic Disney. Perhaps something based on Soul. Unfortunately the spot is really an issue with he circular theater and being “land locked.”
One thing I would like to see is the Motorway to be sponsored by Tesla and converted to electric cars somehow. Now, I know that would DEFINATELY change the sound scape of the area, but still, Tomorrowland and we are still driving gas guzzlers?!

January 30, 2022 at 11:39 pm #154622Thanks for the update @Goofyfan_Chuck it looks like the construction is almost halfway there. All they have to do is pour the concrete from the ramp to the paths of Storybook Circus to Tomorrowland and install the last pieces of the railroad tracks. I got a pretty good feeling the Walt Disney World Railroad will open later this year. P.S Fingers crossed!
September 13, 2022 at 12:37 pm #159634Spring 2023… hopefully.
Magic Kingdom’s Tron Lightcycle/Run ride all set for spring 2023
September 13, 2022 at 1:51 pm #159639Feels weird that it took 5 years (or thereabouts) to get this completed, when it’s a dupe ride from another park. I know COVID made it hard – but Universal got a ton of stuff done in this same period.

PaydirtBurt103 XPI think it is not weird, but strange that it took 5 years. I work in petro-chemical engineering and have seen several units in plants designed, built and running in that 5 years. Anyone remember, did it take over five years to build Batu?
September 14, 2022 at 12:04 pm #159666sometimes i think Disney spreads themselves too thin…like when a town decides to fix the roads but does it at the same time in ten spots so all the roads are a mess for months instead of just focusing on 1-2 roads at a time? i see poor project management here but not really surprising considering the way the place has been going downhill for years. a general lack of focus and direction, tearing up large sections of multiple parks at a time but not fixing the simplest things (the poor animatronics at CBJ and CoP). all while prices go up, benefits (magic bands, fast passes, magic express) disappear and the only thing they can advertise is “come stay where the magic is”? i’m taking a break for a while from the parks until they get their act together.
September 16, 2022 at 1:51 pm #159715Who else is really upset after Tron Lightcycle Run was announced for the next seven months to open in 2023? Good thing I didn’t go to the Parks & Resorts segment on Sunday because it was obnoxious and weird too.

PaydirtBurt103 XPI wont say really “upset,” but mildly miffed.
We will be there in mid-late October and were hoping, finders crossed, for soft opening, but alas no. I really think it is darn near ready, but they are pushing it off so they have something to open in the 100 years of Disney, as opposed to opening for WDW’s 50th and cover for closing Splash Mt.
Really I was hoping that the WDW Railroad would be open and does not look like that will be happening in a time frame that benefits me. That is the tragedy of WDW’s 50th to me, it was celebrated without a train. I’m sorry that scene and sound of the engine entering the Mainstreet Station as you are waiting to enter the Kingdom is ICONIC.

I agree, no reason for this. They had the design already because like you said, it’s a replica of an attraction they already have. Covid messed everything up, sure, but like you said Universal still finished Velocicoaster ON TIME during Covid so what’s Disney excuse? They just didn’t want to spend the money when they weren’t earning the amount of money they wanted. They furloughed/let go of 30,000 employees and cried about how much money they were “losing” when their profits overall were still in the millions.
