10dedfish177 XPSo, most of you all know me and my crazy running threads and pictures. I have linked to a calendar where we all share our up coming races, provide support and recommendations (experiences).
I have a weekend coming up at the end of August (the 26th and 27th) where I will be running 3 separate Obstacle Course Races (OCR) in Southern WV. There, I will earn my trifecta for the 2nd year in a row.
What does that mean to you guys? Probably not a lot. 4 yrs ago I would be in same boat. I was a runner who could knock out a decent 5k time. I occasionally lifted. My brother talked me into signing up for the Spartan Sprint in DC 3 years ago. By the end of the 5 mile race, I couldn’t feel my right hand at all, was exhausted and mentally dead on my feet. Waiting in line for the showers, I almost passed out. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6Ve7qS-DWBLLW96dTl0ckxGelE/view
But I learned a valuable lesson. I was not fit. I was semi active. Huge difference between the two. From there, I decided to push myself harder. I was lifting regularly, I started doing trail runs, I would sometimes do 5 mile runs in a 20lb weight vest. Climbing 8ft wooden walls.
I went on the next year to run a Super (9-11 miles) with my brother in Mississippi: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6Ve7qS-DWBLZEw2YVRDaExPM0U/view

10dedfish177 XPOk the pic above didn’t come out like I wanted so I’m trying again.
This is my gps map of the wintergreen course. Wintergreen is a ski resort close to where @acamm lives. It was 9 miles and total elevation change was about 8000 ft. It took me 6 hrs to complete and was the most physically demanding thing Ive ever done.

10dedfish177 XPSpartan races are also about family. Here are a few pictures from Summer of last year. Ashlea and I did the DC Spartan sprint, and Abigail doing the kids race. Abigail had an absolute ball doing the kids race, which was about 1 mile long and she did it by herself. The other picture is of my Charlotte Sprint, where I was climbing a 30 ft A Frame.

July 26, 2017 at 10:18 am #41124This is awesome!! What a HUGE accomplishment!! I was just talking to my husband about doing something to push myself. I was thinking Tough Mudder?!

10dedfish177 XPHere are a few more photos of some of the obstacles. Yes, that’s a spear throw. It’s part of every Spartan race. The mud hill I’m sitting on sits atop chest deep water that’s about 50 deg.
July 26, 2017 at 1:21 pm #41173@10dedfish the rings look rough… if you drop do you have to start over?
July 26, 2017 at 2:01 pm #41190July 26, 2017 at 2:09 pm #41192At least you get to jump over the fire and not run through it!
