Thankful for D-Cot

Having friends who are fellow fans and who get it, who get you, soooooo wonderful! Before I found the online communities for Disney lovers like us I felt alone, like noone understood me, I joined the now defunct Disney World Trivia site and met many wonderful people (there were a few bullies there too though) and those friends became real life friends, I was at one friend’s wedding and was a bridesmaid for another (also had a 3 year long relationship that started on that site but that’s another story!) anyway, then a fellow DWTer told us about D-Cot and how great it was, and here I am! Like others have mentioned, one big happy family! Look me up on the social media thread and send me requests!
I just wanted to say how thankful I am for this site.
I’m grateful for the community of kind people who are here… This is, by far, the nicest and most helpful Disney website I have come across.
We really are a great bunch of people.
I’ve been having a pretty rough year… I just want to say Thank You to this site and everyone on it for giving me a reason to smile even on the hardest days.
I am truly sorry to hear about your rough year. You have no idea how much it means to hear that this site has brought you comfort and healing. If there is anything we/I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to let us/me know.
I just wanted to say how thankful I am for this site. I not only love the jukebox and listening to Disney music at work and at home, but I’m grateful for the community of kind people who are here. I only started posting and interacting on here recently, but I wish I had started sooner. This is, by far, the nicest and most helpful Disney website I have come across. I’ve been having a pretty rough year. There’s a lot of stress and uncertainty at my work after the firm I work for was bought out by a larger firm at the beginning of the year. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in January, and although she’s doing really well now, it’s been a tough road especially for her, but also my sister and me who have been caring for her. I’m currently going through a pretty bad breakup that has left me depressed, sad, lonely, lost and feeling pretty worthless. Some days it’s hard to get out of bed and face the world. But when I come to this site, and I see the friendliness of everyone here, and am able to take my mind off everything by talking about one of my favorite things with other people who get it…It helps so much. I’m trying hard to find the good in every day and to keep going, and I find that here. I don’t mean to ramble on with my sob story, lol, I just want to say Thank You to this site and everyone on it for giving me a reason to smile even on the hardest days.
Laprana, I’m glad you are here too! I love the people here. It’s a great place! I’ll be praying for you and your family. Thanks for being my D-Cot pal and Facebook friend.
JUst to add my 2 cents, I am truly blessed to have this community to escape to when I need a place of fun, support, companionship and friendship. The music and chat are great, but I love knowing that there is a place that I can go to and find support and friendship. I’ve do duck in and out and wish I could be here everyday but life is what it is.
Steve built a great community and added NAsfan and Starbee to help make it even better. Chelle is our enabler who gets many of us to our happy place.
Laprana, you are in my thoughts and I will keep you and your Mom is my prayers. I am sending a BIG DISNEY HUG
laprana…I have dealt with depression for years and it’s by the grace of God that we get through each day. This site means so much to me and I am glad you are here too. We are a community of Disney freaks but also caring people. I have a close friend who is battling stage 4 lung cancer right now, so I know how much prayer is needed. I am so glad your mom is doing well. I couldn’t live without mine. She is my rock. I was so glad when I found this site. I thought I was the only person out there who lives and breathes Disney. I feel that I have a lot more friends now

And I totally agree…I feel like I’ve made so many new friends through this site, and right now especially, that means the world to me. It’s pretty amazing how a group of total strangers can come together and be friends through just one common interest. It seriously warms my heart Laprana, the more the merrier! This community is engaging, supportive, caring and fun. Numerous threads that allow you to participate in all things Disney.
I can sympathize with your luck. Last year we went through hell in my family, and just a few days ago, we lost our baby puppy who was only 3 years old (puppies are family not pets) to epilepsy.
This place is a good place to decompress. Of all the technological communities I have been involved with, this is the only one where I feel the people genuinely care.

Oh my gosh, dngnb8, I’m so sorry about your puppy! You’re so right – our pets aren’t just pets, they’re definitely family members. I’m so sorry for your loss and for your rough last year. I hope things are looking up for you soon!
@StupidJudy, you are totally right – it makes all the difference in the world to have friends who really “get it.” And it’s pretty lonely when you don’t. That’s such a huge part of why I’m so thankful for this site and all the amazing people here!!
@steve, thank you SO much. I can’t even put into words how much this site helps me every day, and you have no idea how much it means to have you and so many others here offer their support. I will take it, gladly and gratefully! Thank you so much for bringing D-Cot to all of us and for keeping it such a wonderful and welcoming place. :blush:

This place is amazing, it’s so positive and fun, which is exactly what a Disney site should be!I’m sorry that you’re having a tough time, that sounds like an awful lot to deal with. If you ever want to vent, feel free to shoot me a message.
I am so sorry to hear about everything you have gone through this year. I can’t get on here nearly as much as I would like to, but when I can, it definitely makes my day brighter!! Everyone has been so kind and it does help that we all have this common LOVE of Disney! I will pray that everyday gets better for you from here on out. I’m still just so overwhelmed by the kindness everyone here has shown me. A few days ago, I lost someone I thought would never leave and was feeling so completely shattered. Today, I gained so many new friends who’ve never even met me and still reached out their hands to help pick me back up. My broken heart is so full tonight! Thank you all, so much

Ya know, there’s a thread titled “Why D-Cot?”. It’s this. It’s all this. Someone is down, we are all there to pick them up. All lifting together, for together we are mightier than anyone or anything that may have knocked our fellow member down. We struggle alone, but together we persevere through the dark days and bask in the sunshine and promise of brighter times ahead.

You are absolutely right, @Nascfan! I’ve never been a part of a group like this before and I feel like I’ve found a home here. I’m so lucky and grateful to be a part of this community
