bexruns374 XPI FINALLY saw it this weekend. Who else saw it? What did you think?
I LOVE Han Solo so I was actually really weary of the movie going into it because I was afraid of what they would do with the character. And with all of the issues the movie had during production, it had me worried.
While i didn’t hate it, I didn’t LOVE it either. I liked Rogue One a lot more. I’ll give it another shot when it becomes available on digital download but for now, I’d give it a B-.
July 10, 2018 at 5:20 pm #82366I still haven’t seen it….
But its on my WATCH SOON list

bexruns374 XPI think you’d be ok watching it at home. I mean, don’t get me wrong it’s good but I wasn’t in love with it.
July 11, 2018 at 7:24 pm #82448Oh thats good to know…. I’ve read Solo movie reviews that havn’t been so polite. Therefore we havn’t been in a hurry to watch it

chris_white2323327 XPwe waited until a few weeks ago to see it. not because of reviews, but we usually wait a while to go – crowds, convenient time, etc.
I don’t get why the movie has “flopped” – not sure what the global $$ is on it, but I think it’ll make a ton of money when it goes to DVD/iTunes, etc. I attribute it more to people saying it was bad before it even came out, making the “flop” a self fulfilling prophecy.
I really liked it, and I will buy it when it comes out on digital. if you’re a Star Wars fan, I think you’ll like the movie, and look past any supposed shortcomings.

bexruns374 XP@chris_white2323 I agree with you there. I mean, I LOVE Star Wars but I was really worried about this one because of all of the problems they had during filming and production. I have to say though, I’m REALLY glad Ron Howard stepped in because any of the shortcomings the film DID have, I honestly believe that they would have been much worse if the other guys had stayed in.

chris_white2323327 XP@bexruns well said. I think bringing in Ron Howard was absolutely the right call. the whole thing reminds me of Rogue One with the reshoots, etc. And I loved Rogue One. My main gripe is now the uncertainty about other spin off films as a result of the so-called financial failure of this film. I’m dying to see the Lando Calrissian movie, and would like to see a spin off Boba Fett and Kenobi. When I was a kid I read the Han Solo and Lando Calrissian books, and others, and always liked those side stories, even if there were supposed plot holes when you put all the pieces together. I think some people get way too spun up about some of this, it generates a ton of negative hype, then it can spoil it for the rest of us.

bexruns374 XP@chris_White2323 100% yes. Solo by all accounts was not a bad movie, I just didn’t love it as much as I have the other ones. However! It’s much better than Ep 1,2,3 IMO. I’d put it on the same level of TLJ, which I also wasn’t in love with, but it wasn’t terrible.
Star Wars will ALWAYS make money. Always.July 12, 2018 at 12:04 pm #82511I went in fully expecting to hate it. I’ve been a SW fan since the originals. I was surprised. It’s not my favorite but I was entertained. I think it flopped because people were expecting it to be bad and just didn’t go.

EXACTLY. We usually go opening night but didn’t because of low expectations. But I’m really wishing we still had gone earlier.

chris_white2323327 XP@bexruns and @mrsfett 100% yes to both of your posts. I guess my attitude now is “go ahead and hate on the movie, park addition, new resort (or whatever other new thing has Twitter on fire)”. if that’s how it’s gonna go down, less crowds for me to deal with. I’ll make up my own mind one way or the other.

bexruns374 XPRight? You think Star Wars Land isn’t going to be packed to the gills when it opens? And that the new hotel isn’t going to be booked FOREVER? We all know they will be. But it’s cool to hate on popular things so oh well I guess.
