How am I supposed to get free shampoo and soap now!?!?!
From a business perspective though, it makes sense. Less money spent on making more of the same product that typically only span the length of one visit.
August 19, 2017 at 8:59 am #44965This is severely going to cut into my supply of shampoo at home.
@nascfan you made me laugh outloudAugust 19, 2017 at 9:27 am #44971As long as they frequently check to see if the dispensers need refilling. It’s obvious if mini bottles are gone or in the trash that they need to replenish, but with those opaque bottles it’s harder to see that they’re out and easy to forget to check when they’re tucked in the shower. I’d be mad if I went to shower and something was empty. Other than that the change doesn’t bother me much. I like taking the mini bottles and stuff home like everyone else but as a DVC member, I’d rather they make this change than keep going with the mini stuff and up my annual dues to cover it :p

RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPAm I the only one who is worried about tampering?…
There are some less-than-magical people out there that can (and do) some sick things. What if someone mixes something in the shampoo/conditioner. Hopefully they can securely lock the bottles in to keep pranksters at bay.

Nope! I didn’t think about that but now I’m worried about that too I worked somewhere once where they were really stingy with supplies and would add water to the soap dispenser to make it last longer, which also made using the soap pointless.

I was thinking more along the lines of Nair in the conditioner.

chill79841 XPI’m a bit on the fence with this one. I can see benefits but the questions I have make me teeter. We are DVC members and don’t get daily room service. I can see the benefit of having a full dispenser lasting much longer than the tiny travel size versions, but I would hope that they do not charge for us having to call for a refill if the dispenser is empty or really close to it. Along that same vein, would it not potentially be just as wasteful if they are required to replace between guests or when they get to a certain level? I am a fan of the larger bottles and, if done correctly, a decrease in plastic usage and waste. Without knowing more, I hope they have a good plan.

I foresee that being an issue. We are also DVC and last time we stayed at OKW (home resort) in a 1 bedroom, which sleeps 5. They were 5 of us and when we checked in there were just 2 towels. We called and they said additional towels would be $6 each. How can you charge extra money for the correct number of towels?! :hmmph: I digress, but my point is, I could see them charging you if your dispenser needs refilling.

missingWDW183 XP@starbee THEY TOLD YOU THERE WAS A CHARGE FOR TOWELS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE ROOM???????
WTFIGMENT WERE THEY TALKING ABOUT “ADDITIONAL TOWELS”????
I can’t even imagine what I would have said to them! No, I can imagine, but I’ll keep this post clean….August 20, 2017 at 8:28 am #45084THEY TOLD YOU THERE WAS A CHARGE FOR TOWELS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE ROOM???????

I can’t even imagine what I would have said to them! No, I can imagine, but I’ll keep this post clean….They sure did, and you and I feel the same way about that They insisted the correct number of towels were in there and thus we were asking for “additional towels”. Who would pretend they were shortchanged 3 towels?! You could just go get extra from the pool if you cared that much about additional free towels! That was Plan B I argued with them until they dropped it. Jeez.
Back to the original topic… :p

From what I read elsewhere, they’re basically locked so anyone outside of the resort employees have no way to open the bottles.
We camp A LOT during the summer so I use the bottles and soaps we take from hotels for when we go camping rather than deal with the mess of transferring my shampoo to a travel bottle. What am I gonna do now?!

Thankfully you can smell Nair a mile away! That stuff is the worst!

Supernee5 XPI just reorganized my home and found a Mickey H2O bar of soap all sealed and packaged nicely. It’s a collector’s item now!

Good Job! I like using the the guest soaps and shampoos…reminds me of my trip.
December 13, 2017 at 11:18 pm #59072I wonder if this is just at Deluxe resorts? Our stays at Riverside in April and September/October had individual use bottles.
