Looked around but didn’t see a thread for us runners. I try to run at least 2-3 times a week (depending on work), with a long run on the weekend. Who else gets up early to get their miles in? :star:

    Oh hello!

Both @eeyorepoohfan and I run pretty often.
I *try* (key word) to run before work but sometimes can’t get out of bed early enough LOL I do run a few times a week (more like 4-5 times)
Just ran the Tinkerbell Half Marathon weekend (all 3 races) and have nothing till September right now.
    How about you? :mickey:

I have the Spartan Trifecta Weekend coming up in WV, late August. All 3 races in 2 days, total about 30 miles and 50 obstacles. And yes, it’s very hard to get up before work to run, but I meet my neighbor at 4:45 and we usually get at least 3-4 miles in.

That’s awesome. My running friends who live nearby are not necessarily as dedicated as me, so getting them up early is out of the question. I usually run alone (I have pepper spray and all the bright clothes/lights) which isn’t really a bad thing as I can set my own pace based on how I’m feeling.

That’s both good and bad. Have you ever used a NOX Gear running vest for when you run early? They are amazing!

I haven’t used one, but it’s on my wishlist on Amazon.

And now I want this shirt:

Those are pretty sweet. But I just cleaned out my closet from all of my “race” tshirts. I had a full garbage bag that I ended up donating. LOL

so, How many times have you almost been hit by a car when running?

    Too many :|

A couple of years ago, I was running on the sidewalk toward traffic and this car came flying around the curve and came UP ONTO the sidewalk and almost took me out. :surprised:

I know us runners really have to be aware but OMG ever since I’ve started running I am WAY more careful when I drive.

    right!!!

I was running here at work one morning, still dark, and was flashing my flashlight into this guys windshield and he never looked up from his phone. I had to hit the ditch to avoid him. SMH… wasnt long after that I got the noxgear.

Hi there!!! I’m a scenic route runner!! LOL I’m not speedy, but very proud of my pace and miles! I’ve been running consistently for the past 5 years minus about 6-9 months due to healing from injury. I run 3 days a week but will be upping that to 4 days in the coming months. I’m training for Dopey in January!! It will be my first full marathon! I’ve raced one 10k and 8 half marathons to date! My hubby and I train on the same route but at different paces. We are thankful for a huge long running trail in town. We’ve had lots of close calls crossing at street lights. People just don’t pay attention! Even when we are wearing bright orange! I feel comfortable on the trail and see police driving the area during every run. It’s by a main road in town.

It is no secret that I run…
I have not run as much as I would like over the past year +, but do it when I can.

The early morning run is not my thing. About the only time I can pull it off is runDisney events, and I think it is because you are awake and moving for hours before the start. Otherwise I’ve tried the early thing, and I have a hard time sticking to it, and my performance is subpar.

My wife did a WDW Princess Half in ’11 :cinderella: and we both did the Inaugural ToT 10 Miler in ’12 :pumpkin:
The ToT was a late night race. I knew better, but only trained in a.m.’s back home in prep
Most draining event I have run d/t FL heat & humidity, even late night in autumn :fire:
Sweet medal tho’ = working elevator on glow-in-the dark hotel.

I’ve found that if I try to put off my workouts till the evening, then there is a 90% chance of it not happening. There are a few running trails around here, but they are only around work and not my home area.

I’ve been trying to find groups to run with, as I run a lot by myself. That gets old after 4 or 5 years.

It’s funny how some people do better running in the morning, while for others it’s the evening. For me it’s the morning, I am awful in the evenings and like 10dedfish said, there’s a good chance I’ll blow it off ;)

I can’t really call myself a runner. I’m trying to get back into it. I ran track & field in HS, didn’t run in college, but have gotten back into it over the last year and a half. It’s so hard to get back in shape! I ran a 5k last November and this year I’ve signed up to the runDisney Virtual Running Shorts series (three 5k races) to help get back into it. Having a target to shoot for helps with my motivation. I’m running 2-3 times a week and doing cardio on the days I don’t run. Trying to make that a consistent 3 times a week.

Can anyone share any tips for someone just starting to run?
