@warrsm it averages about $20+ cheaper per night for us at Pop in March vs. April. Added up over 6, 7, nights, that’s a hefty chunk of change.

Easter is April 4 this coming year.

@nascfan Those March dates stand a pretty good chance of working out for us if we decide to go. As tradition would have it, we would probably check in on March 7th and check out on March 12th.

I just talked with Christy and we are definitely going for the race refund. We are definitely not going that week in April. We’re still mulling over the idea of going down earlier. We have a trip planned for August with friends. We just need to look at our points and weigh them against what we really want to do :)

Nice! I would be very pleased if those dates work for all of us! Looks like all of us D-Cotters who were planning on going and running have a lot of planning and looking and thinking to do.

We officially decided to keep our SW Half Marathon as virtual! We opted just for the medal and no shirt. I couldn’t see spending almost $50 for the tech shirt. We have ran all Star Wars Half Marathons at both Disneyland and WDW minus one Disneyland in 2016! So we figure we should get the final half marathon medal. We will still take our trip in April and will use the gift card refund portion to cover food for that trip! It was a tough decision to make. We’ve been debating it all week. I literally have no motivation for virtuals. BUT I love my Disney medals so much! Now we just need weather, winds, and air quality to cooperate! It’s pecan harvest season here. So they are shaking the trees constantly and our air is literally dirt, mold and pollen. So that’s loads of fun! :P I have my Sloth 10k, Wine and Dine 10k and my Star Wars Rival Run Half Marathon to complete virtually! I will keep you all updated on my progress and training! I have all new shoes and some running gear! :mando: :babyyoda: :ursela:

We decided to keep our Star Wars 5k virtual too :) but since it was our first race we decided to get the shirts :) at this point we are going to Keep our April dates too :) I also signed up for the January marathon weekend 5k virtually too so even though it’s not in WDW I’m still excited to have something to motivate me and to get myself out there! @eeyorepoohfan they really shake the trees to get the nuts to fall! Never would have thought of that before!

@warrsm I’m so glad you guys kept your 5k and registered for another Disney one too!!! I hope it proves to be a good motivator for us both! Yep! They have machines that shake the trees! It’s a cool process! But it’s horrible for our air quality and allergens! There are literally dirt/pollen plumes all over the valley. Just a thick brown/dirt haze. :mask:

It’s been a while since I’ve been in this thread, but am encouraged to see so many still getting out there, logging the miles, and even finding ways to participate in some of the RunDisney virtual events. I started running about 12 years ago and have experienced the highs and lows of being part of the running world. The good days outweigh by far the bad ones, and I am thankful to still be able to get out there regularly. Part of the lows I have experienced have been the semi-regular calf strains. I have tried just about everything I could think of to minimize these frustrating injuries. Back in the Spring of 2020 I changed shoes, which sounds like a simple thing, but I have stubbornly worn the same style of shoe for the better part of a decade. I went to a local Fleet Feet store and sat for the evaluation and fitting and decided to go with the Hoka One One Rincon. It changed my running life. I had maybe one slight calf strain over a three month period. Then in July it was time for a new pair. I went with the Hoka One One Clifton 6. I have not had a single strain since then and I was able to finish 2020 with 100- mile months in both November and December. Here’s to all of you and the great effort to come in 2021!! Best of luck in all of your upcoming races!! :) :stormtrooper: :goofy: :dopey:

I keep forgetting to post this. Wine and Dine was supposed to be my challenge. I was signed up for the 5k and my first 10k (with @eeyorepoohfan and @breesmommy5 ((Heather and Robyn)) ) but COVID had other plans. Disney was forced to cancel in person races. We had hoped to still do the 10k in Disney on our November trip but an ankle injury prevented Heather from being able to do that. So I had to do my first and probably only 10k back at home. As disappointed as I was in not having Heather pace me, fortunately my son-in-law Ben was happy to go with me. Boy did I need him! He was instrumental in helping keep me on track and encouraged, especially when my knees started to hurt in mile 4 and 5. We did this the Sunday after Thanksgiving, on a cool but dry and fairly pleasant day, knowing that weather in our region can turn at any point in December and then I’d have to wait until spring. I was hoping for an hour and a half, and completed in 1:23:47, for an average pace of 13:30/mile! All I wanted to do was no mile over 16 minutes “Disney pace”, well I easily beat that! My slowest was 13:51, mile 4 where I was struggling a bit, and all miles in the 13 minute range. I was really happy with my consistency! I was so happy to complete, I had done a 5k before leaving for our trip to complete the two races. I’m just really disappointed in the forced cancelation in person down there, I was really looking forward to wearing both medals in the parks. But I’m so thankful to Ben for his coaching and pacing, and so happy to accomplish a 10k!

Woke up this morning not feeling well. Hot flashes,…..no comments from the peanut gallery….belly ache, so I took my temp.
    Nope, no fever. 98.5°
Ok so I went for my run. Trying desperately to build my miles back up this year. Ran about a mile and had to stop. Huge wave of nausea washed over me. Tried to run again, but again, nausea.
Was able to start again and finished 2 miles.
    Horrible
I feel like there is just such a black cloud over my running lately.
It’s starting to get to me
