@missingWDW Oh man! We really are in the same predicament! One of these days we will all find our motivation!!
@starbee I don’t blame you on waiting to get new shoes. I really only ordered new ones because my shoes were all dead and making my feet and legs hurt so bad. I keep one pair as designated running and then the others get used for daily shoes. And they were all dead!
@warrsm I’m so sad!!! You guys aren’t going to still travel, correct? We are still planning to go and likely keep the same dates. But I’m very bummed that it’s now virtual/cancelled. We are debating the full refund or switching to virtual. I obviously have no motivation to train or run virtuals. I have two 10k virtual medals at my house right now that I still haven’t even attempted those.December 11, 2020 at 11:40 am #143182@rocketear99 You are absolutely not alone in this feeling!!! This has really been a rough year! I think most of us are relating to that stuffed sausage feeling! I’m sorry about your ankle! Mine has been off and on for a couple months now. I’m so ready for it to just be normal feeling! We are so bummed about the races being switched to virtual. We are debating just getting the full refund or doing virtual. But virtual just isn’t the same and I still have two 10k virtual medals at my house waiting for me to complete those! Will you guys still go to WDW in April with the races cancelled?
December 11, 2020 at 11:41 am #143184@eeyorepoohfan I am not sure I know I sooooooo still want to go so I think we will keep the dates at least for now and see how things progress. as for the race, we might just keep it virtual since it was just the 5K and that’s much easier to bang out on our own than the bigger races you do was sooo looking forward to our first race experience. Another time
December 11, 2020 at 11:43 am #143185I’m so glad I’m far from alone in losing motivation and gaining weight.
Definitely! I’m pushing my Dopey shoes a little bit longer. Yeah I’m over the 1 year mark but I’m well under the mileage. I’m not running far right now. Good for you on starting to get your weight back to where you want to be (how funny that we gained the exact same amount of weight ) and for getting back out there running! Clearly you’ve still got it!
December 11, 2020 at 11:47 am #143192@warrsm Keep me posted! We are likely keeping our same exact dates. You guys could totally do the 5k at home and get the medal!!! I was looking forward to it all too!
December 11, 2020 at 11:51 am #143194@starbee My weight is far from where I want it to be, but it’s heading in the right direction at least
@eeyorepoohfan I’ll have to talk to Christy before we make any final decisions. We signed up for every event that weekend, so we’ll probably take the quite hefty refund and put it toward a new family truck rather than go virtual. As we’ve all said, a lot is lost in virtual races that is there for the in-person ones. As for the dates, they’re at an inconvenient time for Christy’s teaching schedule so I can see us cancelling altogether, going earlier while she’s still on leave, or keeping the dates but scaling back the reservations to a solo trip or bringing a friend down or something. The last option is least likely, but I can dream, can’t I?
December 11, 2020 at 11:52 am #143196@eeyorepoohfan We kind of have DVC points coming out our ears because of all we didn’t do in 2020. They will not go to waste, but I’m not sure how we’ll re-allocate them yet.
December 11, 2020 at 11:56 am #143198December 11, 2020 at 12:06 pm #143199Fully expected this and frankly we were just waiting for them to pull the plug. I can tell you all now that we won’t be going virtual, we’ll get the refund. Kathy and I are done with virtuals and will start again when races are done in person. I can also let you all know that unless our kids keep their April dates we will cancel and go in March. Two reasons for that, one: we are SUPPOSED to go on our Alaska cruise in May and the time was already going to be tight. Although we’re sure that’s going to be canceled too. And two: March is WAY cheaper for us to stay. Like, not even close cheaper! This all is maddeningly disappointing! We were SO looking forward to a big D-Cot trip and races with all who could!
@rocketear99 great job on your run buddy!December 11, 2020 at 12:17 pm #143200@rocketEAR99 I don’t blame you for getting the full refund! That will really help towards the family truck! And I don’t blame you for likely changing your dates. The race weekends really don’t always fall at the most convenient times. So move it to where it works best for you guys! Who knows, we might switch dates too. Our AP’s expire in May and we will not be renewing. So we know we need one more trip before those expire for sure. I hope you find the right time to use your DVC points!
@nascfan I was really looking forward to our huge d-cot meet up in April! And this just really closes out that chance for sure! I don’t blame you guys for shifting your dates! You might as well save some money! Even if your cruise does get cancelled, you might as well get a better price for your vacation to WDW.December 11, 2020 at 12:26 pm #143201Well this news sucks!!! We will probably get the refund. We have no intentions of doing it virtually. Not sure if we will keep the current dates or not now that many fellow D-Cotters are cancelling or changing their dates. We were really looking forward to meeting everyone face to face @Nascfan – was thinking the same thing about going earlier in the year since we didn’t make it at all this year & it’s way cheaper!!
December 11, 2020 at 12:35 pm #143203It’s amazing the price difference between earlyish March and April. I’m just so very, very sad.
December 11, 2020 at 12:36 pm #143204@Nascfan Keep me posted if you switch to March on you dates. Seriously! We may change our dates to coincide if it works with our plans!
December 11, 2020 at 12:41 pm #143205@rocketear99 I absolutely will! Right now we have two reservations, Arpil 14th to 24th and March 6th to the 14th. If we change it will be those dates. But I will let you know either way, once we talk with our kids and it’s decided what they’re going to do.
