    @rocketear99 Thanks! :) And that included stops for crossing streets and Leia’s potty breaks. Wow, I can’t believe you don’t have a smart phone! I also bought a tag that clips on to my Fitbit (made by the same company) so that if the worst happens, it has my name and emergency contact info should someone find me. I got one for Leia also that clips to her harness in the event that she gets away from me. I take her regular collar off when we use the running harness and her running harness doesn’t currently have a tag. It’s unbearable to think about but a couple years ago a school teacher in his 50s was killed in a hit and run while running on one of the trails I use for my distance runs. We’re coming up on the anniversary of his death and people are laying flowers and it got me thinking about my own safety precautions. It’s awesome that you and Christy run together! I don’t have a running buddy for distance runs but I do have Leia for shorter runs :pluto: how far do you plan on running before Dopey?

    @nascfan Thanks!!! :) How are you doing? Have you done any walks or anything lately?

    @starbee
    I’m glad we run together too, but if we didn’t, Christy would beat me to the finish line. She’s pretty quick! That’s kind of crazy that someone got killed like that so close to home :( Glad you’re taking steps to keep safe and identifiable! At the moment we plan to go as far as 23 miles before Dopey. I’m hoping the weather holds out on the 2 days we plan to do 20 miles and 23 miles because if it doesn’t it will be very hard to set aside different days for them, if it’s possible at all. The calendar is just so full for the rest of the year.

    @rocketear99 oh yeah! Every…..single….darned….day. LOL When it’s decent out (which is rare anymore this time of year) I’ll do some walk/jog at lunch, otherwise it’s the hallways until spring. Which is so far away! :( But, since I was an idiot and signed up for a Polar Paws and Santa Claws 5k with the kids next month for our zoo I did take advantage of a nice day and got in just about a 5k at lunch the other day. You don’t need to share that *I* was the idiot that suggested we do the 5k! LOL I can only hope it will be at least in the 40s! Other than that day, a couple miles every day of very fast rope drop walk. Moved into the maintaining phase of the year for the winter.

    @rocketear99 I know, it’s terrible :( Will you do almost a “practice round” like the Jeff Galloway plan calls for before Dopey with the 4 consecutive days of running? I know exactly what you mean! It’s so hard to get the last part of training done this time of year with everything going on

    @nascfan
    What’s wrong with signing up for that 5k? The weather? Hey didn’t you have your zombie run recently? Did I completely miss that in this thread?

    @starbee yep, you got it, the weather. Mid December, in Toledo, in the late afternoon/evening. It’s going to be COLD! And maybe (gasp) snowy! What in the heck was I thinking?! I HATE the cold! And I’m going to do a 5k in it?! Quick, someone get my head examined please! LOL

    Yep! Well, not exactly a zombie run but the Night of the Dead 5k, early October. You know what, I don’t know if I ever posted about it! :surprised: It was great though! It was a cool day, but it was a still day and evening so no wind to deal with thankfully. They did have scarers in the woods which was fantastic! Pretty sure my niece peed her pants at least three times! LOL But as a team (seven of us) we completed every single one of the 25+ obstacles! In fact, said niece was the only one in our group to complete Big Foot, the toughest obstacle they have! Our time was somewhere just shy of two hours and we were all happy about that. We all had so much fun getting dirty that at least some of us including me are signing up for the daytime one held next June 20th. They won’t be doing anymore night races for a while, it’s a husband/wife team that puts these on and it’s just too much for them. I’ve got to find a medal picture and get that on here!

    @nascfan Don’t worry! You’re secret is safe with me (and hopefully everyone else who sees your post)! LOL Glad to see you’re doing what you can over the winter and those are some fun 5K’s you’ve done/are doing :) Your niece may have gotten scared several times, but she totally redeemed herself with the Big Foot!

    @starbee
    The weekend we do the 23 miles will be the closest we come to a practice round. We’ll do our usual 30-minute paced workout on Wednesday, then a 4+ mile walk on Thursday, then a 10+ mile walk on Friday, then the 23 miles on Saturday.

    Don’t speak it into existence! LOL you’ll run out of necessity and it will be fine ;) trust me, my coldest 5K was about 25* with head wind. You can do it! It will be fun with the three of you!

    @rocketear99 she sure did! I like your plan, that really IS a practice round! You’ve got the distances right there close enough to the races. Hoping and praying the weather holds for you for that.

    @starbee
    it really will be fun with the three of us. I think that will power me through. I’m actually looking forward to it and we get a medal, something unusual around here! Just hoping for decent weather.
    Oh my gosh, I’m so glad we did the night one when we had the chance! The swamp that you have to wade through was rancid in October, I can only imagine how horrible it’s going to smell in the heat of June! LOL

    Thanks guys! It was so much fun! Took a minimum of two showers before we started to smell better, three for normal. LOL

    I can imagine! Like when I fell in the drink during deployment week :angry: I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get clean!
