Mmmmm, eating! That’s something I’m good at!
Great job @missingWDW and @bexruns! Proud of you both!
November 4, 2019 at 5:09 pm #120034@missingWDW Welcome back! Way to get in a speedy 6 miles!! The cooler temps help so much!
@bexruns Wahoo! Cheering you on!!! Nice speedy 5k! Way to go girl!!!! I’m sorry your knee has been giving you issues. I hope it gets on the healing path quickly for you! I love eating too! It’s my favorite!! But cheering you on to be able to stay consistent on training! I struggle with that too.November 4, 2019 at 5:13 pm #120035Yesterday we got in our 8 mile training run. We are right no track as far as our long runs go. We just aren’t great about getting maintenance runs in during the week. Still just running 2 days a week typically. I had some good miles and some challenging miles, but pulled out a 12:38 min/mile pace overall. So I was very pleased with that, especially since I thought I was pacing much slower! Nowhere near where I used to pace, but that’s okay. I’m pretty much starting over again so I can’t expect my body (which is heavier than it has been for any of my previous races) to be able to get back to my speedy paces anytime soon. Just focuses on one foot in front of the other and getting the distance in.
November 6, 2019 at 12:56 pm #120105@missingwdw So happy to see you on here again! Congrats on your fast 6 miles a couple days ago!!!
November 6, 2019 at 12:58 pm #120106@bexruns Welcome back to training! Oh gosh, I’m hearing you on the food part! All of my favorite foods are the ones I need to enjoy in moderation as I train. Best wishes as you work up those miles before your next Marathon!
November 6, 2019 at 1:04 pm #120108@eeyorepoohfan That was a good 8-mile pace you got there! It’ll be so to see you (and I assume Ryan) at the 1/2 Marathon!!! Glad you’re at least getting in 2 runs/week. Life can get in the way of training sometimes. I know for us, we’re looking forward to not having to plan our schedule around double-digit runs after
Thank you again for the IT Band stretches. They do seem to be helping. Healing is slow, but is definitely happening. I’m finding that the discomfort shows up about 1 hour later each day. Usually I make it until evening without feeling any irregularities.

bexruns374 XPToday was 4 miles and honestly the first mile was the hardest. Once I got past that, it was sooooo much easier. I forgot what that felt like
Heather, that’s so awesome and what a good pace! How are you feeling lately?
November 6, 2019 at 1:54 pm #120113Trying to get caught up here…
@eeyorepoohfan Thank you! I hope I will rock Dopey, training hasn’t really been going as planned since the summer way to go on getting back into regular runs! That’s the hardest part!
@rocketear99 I am SO sorry about the rash! That sounds awful! I hope it’s better now! I’m sorry about the knee problems too, like Heather I have also struggled with IT band issues on and off and it sounds like what you have is the same. I do many of the things she suggested (great tips there!) as well as a couple of additional stretches. I also started using orthotics in my running shoes and that’s seemed to help also. If I know something is going to push it to the limit like increasing distance or speed, I will wear RockTape when I run which again helps.
@missingWDW Welcome back! we missed you too! 32* is chilly! way to go!November 6, 2019 at 1:55 pm #120114@bexruns Congrats on beginning the marathon training! I’m with you on the eating!

Yes! That’s what would happen to me. I’d be fine while I was running and even immediately afterwards. I’d stretch and then a while after it would start to hurt, so at first it was hard to figure out what the problem was

AMEN!
November 6, 2019 at 2:06 pm #120117@bexruns Girl, I feel you. I ALWAYS think the first mile is the hardest, whether I’m running a 5k or a half!
November 6, 2019 at 2:07 pm #120118How did I miss @eeyorepoohfan’s 8 miler post?! Great job Superstar! You are doing so well getting back into it, I’m so proud of you!
Awesome job with your 4 miles @bexruns and more importantly overcoming that first mile! You’re doing great!
November 6, 2019 at 2:34 pm #120122Hey everyone remember me?
I did not get anywhere near as much running done as I wanted to while on vacation being sick was a large part of why I didn’t run but also Extra Extra Magic Hours really threw a wrench in there too. I did run over at Universal one day so at least there’s that I guess.
I got back at it yesterday but I’m pretty bummed right now because my Dopey training is not where I wanted it to be at this point. I started so far ahead of time, knowing I would lose 1 month due to two vacations, but adding in being sick, drill and being on active orders, I’ve lost like another 2 months it’s not that I don’t want to run, it’s that you need a crazy chunk of time to get those distance runs in and I don’t always have that.
Here’s yesterday’s run:
Time: 46:29
Distance: 4.00 miles
Pace: 11’36”November 6, 2019 at 5:28 pm #120126@rocketEAR99 Thank you! I’m please with my pace, especially with the lack of training. I’m also getting older so my body rebels a bit! Yep, you will meet Ryan at the 1/2 as well! I will be cheering everyone on for all races at Dopey! Ryan may opt to sleep besides for the half. But I have so many people running Dopey that I really want to be there to cheer! Let me tell you, it’s a relief to not plan life around those long runs! I can’t imagine training those distances anymore! I’m so glad the stretches seem to be helping! Keep at it and keep icing! As Chloe said, she got orthotics and that’s really helped her. Helped me too! We use custom orthotics and I literally can’t do life without them anymore! Give me a nice level base to keep everything aligned properly!
@bexruns The first mile really is always the hardest, like every single time! But great job getting out there! I am doing much better, thanks for asking! I have done some good work on healing my gut these last 2 weeks and it’s really paid off! No major flare ups! I call it a victory! My body is holding up well for the most part on our longer runs!
@starbee You will do great! Don’t stress about it or give it a second thought! Remember that the really long runs are a good 3 weeks apart! So you still have time to get a few more of those in and regular maintenance runs in. I promise you that we missed some of our training runs for Dopey. And our longest run was 23 miles nearly a month before the races! We just did maintenance runs leading into it. Neither of us had the motivation or desire to run farther. And we survived and conquered Dopey! So I have full confidence that you will too! It is a mind game at times and just keep those positive thoughts in your mind at all times! You still have almost 2 months to get those regular runs in.
@nascfan Don’t even give it a second thought! You saw it on Facebook and from my texts to you! But thank you!!!!!!!
