@eeyorepoohfan Ouch! :( I’m so sorry! I rolled my ankle earlier this year running in the neighborhood with Leia. I was trying to avoid some trash on the sidewalk and lost my footing where the sidewalk met the grass. It sucks! I wish you a speedy recovery!

@rocketear99 WOW! :surprised: congrats! You finished literally seconds faster than I did for my POT race! I didn’t waste any time submitting mine either :P What perfect weather y’all had! Looks like a really pretty route too! Nice bling :coin:

@starbee Thanks! It never fails! I’m finally getting back to it, feeling good and them bam! I hurt myself! I think some of it is because my running shoes are dead, so I don’t have as much support as I should. I will be ordering new ones this week! Ugh! I’m sorry you had a similar experience earlier this year! I notice that when I’m training consistently, I don’t tend to injury myself as much because things are stronger. Since I’ve slacked off for a long time now, I don’t have the strength and stability I used to have. I’m hoping to be able to run this week! I feel like I’m doing better already, but won’t rush it.

I am practically giddy about next week’s forecast. But now I’m wondering, do I want to still get up at 5:00am on Tuesday to run and enjoy the 60* weather or do I want to sleep in and run in the evening when it’s ONLY 80* (which will be less humid and less still than the 75*-80* at 5:00am has been all summer). I’m finally going to have a choice and I can’t decide what to do with it!!! :surprised: :P LOL

    Checking in real quick

There have been several runs since my last post but I won’t bore you with them all. It’s all been prep for my PT test. I wanted to Dopey train and train for my PT test concurrently, but it just wasn’t practical so I put Dopey training on hold this week and last. PT prep has been going well, best time so far has been a 13:40 mile and half. My PT test is Sunday and I’m hoping for a 13:30 mile and a half. The weather has cooled down drastically so hopefully that works in my favor! I’m really nervous because I’ve never PT tested at the location we’ll be using before and I’ve always gotten familiar with a track beforehand in the past.

Next week I will be back to my regularly scheduled Dopey training :dopey:

You’re going to hit that @starbee. You totally got this! Just by continuing to run you’re still training for Dopey. You’re keeping your legs in shape. True, it may not be the longer runs but you are staying in training.

Yes I feel like I’ll be able to pick back up on the distance runs without issue because I’ve still been running – and much faster! Thank you. I hope so but I’m more worried about getting the number of push ups I need and meeting the waist measurement :(

This is overdue, but this past Saturday, October 5th, we continued on with our :dopey: training. We didn’t do any paced workouts during the week like we normally do because we wanted a full recovery from the 1/2 Marathon the previous weekend and the middle of the week was just so hot and we are over running in the heat.

We ran 5 miles on Saturday in 1:00:54 for a pace of 12’10″/mile. Of course we were quite happy with that now that POT is behind us :)

Great job @rocketear99! You should be very happy with that! You guys are doing so awesome! So smart to fully recover from the 1/2 too. I hope you will be having some weather better suited to training.

@rocketear99 After my first half I took a week off too :) way to get back at it with the 5 miler! isn’t it amazing how time doesn’t really matter once you’re done with POT? Sure there’s a pace requirement, but I’m pretty sure you, Christy and I are all capable of 16’00”. Way more pressure on the POT pace!

If you were wondering, my PT test went great on Sunday! I maxed out on my waist measurement and my sit ups  got a decent amount of push ups so I didn’t lose too many points there (I’ve regressed, but what can you do, I’ve been focusing on Dopey training over strength training) and my run time was good but I have no idea what it was because it was raining the whole time and I couldn’t see the clock. All I care about is I passed, with a much higher than minimum pass, and my PT test is over for another year :)

Yesterday I resumed the :dopey: training with a 4 mile run at the trail. I took Leia with me but she wasn’t having it. I thought she’d be thrilled to get out again after so long but she kept stopping and didn’t want to keep going. At mile 3 she was deadweight. My husband was out there walking our other dog Trixie so he took Leia and I finished my last mile without her. Fall has arrived in Oklahoma so I’ve switched my running schedule to the evenings. It was a beautiful 71* day when I ran after work (compared to 48* yesterday morning!) which is the same as it has been during my morning runs except with 40% humidity instead of 90% – it makes a world of difference! It’s nice to be able to run the trails too instead of my neighborhood. That gets old and right now they’re digging it up to resurface the roads. I don’t know if it was the PT training, the break from 4 milers, the change in temperature or all of the above, but even with Leia slowing me down that’s my best pace on a 4 miler in a long time! :)

    Time: 42’10”
    Distance: 4.00 miles
    Pace: 10’32”

Wow @starbee! First of all congratulations on your PT test! I knew you’d do great! I’m so proud of you!
And dang! What a pace! With Leia not cooperating! That is amazing! You are doing so great! Awesome job!

@nascfan Thanks! My supervisor is really competitive and kept saying “What was your time? You have to know!” Nope! LOL yeah I don’t know what Leia’s deal was but I’m sad, I like having my running buddy! I wanted to get one more run in tonight before we leave but the forecast says 80% chance of storms all afternoon, evening and night so that’s looking like a nope

@nascfan Of course! It’s going to be tricky with all these Extra Extra Magic hours but I plan on getting at least 2 runs in during my time at WDW and then another 2 while we’re at Universal. Hoping I can!
