I ran last week but it wasn’t a great week of running so I didn’t post. I was too tired from my insane weekend to get up and run yesterday but I did today :)
1 mile at the track, by myself, in preparation for my PT test. Finished in 9’02” which is right on target

Thanks, @starbee! Yeah, I’m really looking forward to NOT setting an alarm clock for those weekend runs… Hopefully it won’t be too much longer now.

@connie96 Right! I’ll be waiting until the middle of the day soon so it will warm up enough!

    @nascfan
Thanks! I’m working up to 1.5 miles. It sounds silly because that’s not a long distance and I’ve been running MUCH further! But, I’m not used to going at that quick of a pace anymore. I’m a good 2-3 sometimes even 4 minutes slower per mile on those longer runs

@starbee at that pace a mile IS a long way! Never in a million years, not when I was younger and certainly not at my advanced age now! Nope, you are wicked fast!

I used to be a sprinter in high school (granted that was a while ago) so I have a little experience running at speed but I can’t keep it up for long! 1.5 miles is my max distance at that speed :P

Christy and I ran 5.0 miles this past Friday, our last Distance Run before our POT 1/2 Marathon :surprised:

I’m pleased to say that we paced well at 11’48″/mile with an overall time of 0:59:05. A marginal improvement over our previous 5.0 mile run. Full stats:

We have 2 paced workouts, today and Wednesday, and then our POT 1/2 Marathon is Saturday morning! So far the forecast is mostly sunny with temps coming out of an overnight low of 59* and working up to a high of 84*. Hopefully it doesn’t get any hotter than that!

Sorry for my absence folks! I truly just don’t have much time to get on here! But I have read through the posts! Great job everyone on their training! Mileage and paces are looking great :dopey: ‘s in training!!!!! Keep it up!!!! @rocketear99 We will be cheering you on this weekend! You’ve both got this! @starbee I’m cheering you on for your PT test! Dopey training really does recondition you and we found our pace tended to slow down as our mileage went up! Even on our shorter runs. Sending you all my prayers and cheers that you can get your pace where it needs to be for the test though! But great job on your continued :dopey: training and mileage! I know you’ve had a few hiccups on getting training in, but you are still doing awesome!
I’ve just gotten in a few 1.5-2 mile runs over the last couple of weeks. Trying to get some sort of base established again! We are signed up for the Half Marathon at WDW in January and would really like to feel like I’m not going to die during the half! LOL My ultimate goal, if training and my body cooperate, is to shoot for a finish time under 2:45 for that half. If the temps cooperate and everything with training goes well, I have a chance of pulling that off. But I have no pressure put on myself. I plan to run good, strong and finish in the best time I can pull off for that day! It’s been many years since I pulled under a 2:45 at a race at WDW! I keep getting crazy hot temps for our races there! LOL

@eeyorepoohfan Thank you! :) Yes you’re right, I think your body learns to pace on autopilot so after Dopey training my instinctive pace is not what it needs to be for my PT test so I’m having to practice my 1.5 mile run and be more conscious of my time. It’s hard too because we don’t run on a track anymore like we used to so that’s another factor adding to the difficulty of pacing! Way to go on getting back into it! yes weather is a huge variable when it comes to performance!

I got a bunch more runs in last week after the first run I posted about. Not sure why I’m struggling so much to keep up here LOL

    Wednesday, September 18
1 mile run at the track for my PT test prep. Finished in 09:12 which is a little slower than the day before but still around target and not bad considering that was my second consecutive day of faster running

    Friday, September 20
4 mile run in the neighborhood with Leia. A storm was brewing so it was pretty stinkin’ humid and we got rained on during our last half mile but I didn’t mind that. I’d rather be wet with rain than sweat :P Leia is not a fan of getting wet so I toweled her off once we got home. She still did great!

    Time: 46:06
    Distance: 4.00 miles
    Pace: 11’30”

Another distance run for Dopey training :dopey: it stormed on and off most of the day which caused a delay in my start. I ran 3 miles before it started raining but thankfully no thunder or lightning. The rain stopped around mile 5 and then it didn’t rain again. I don’t care if I get rained on while running, it can be nice to cool off, but I hate running in waterlogged shoes. Luckily that didn’t really happen because the rain wasn’t super heavy once I started running. The run went pretty well but mile 11-12 felt like it was 5 miles long! Overall I felt pretty good and didn’t really feel tired. My feet felt a little sore during the last 2 miles but that was probably from being wet. I wasn’t aiming for a specific pace but I managed to pace 3 seconds quicker per mile than my last distance run of 13 miles!

    Time: 3:05:03
    Distance: 15.00 miles
    Pace: 12’19”

I needed to run yesterday morning but it stormed so I ran after work instead. It didn’t really go well. I was aiming for 1.25 miles as PT test prep but I only made it 0.75 miles. It wasn’t super hot, it was around 76* since it had been storming all day. But it was super bright and I couldn’t see my Fitbit to accurately pace myself. I thought I was setting a good pace but I was actually going way too fast without realizing. I got crazy winded after 0.75 miles (there was also a 12 mph headwind) and had to walk because I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I haven’t felt like that in a long time. That’s when I stopped my timer and realized I had run that 0.75 miles in 06:09 which is a pace of 8’12”. I have never gone that fast ever in my life and clearly because of that my lungs could not keep up. I was kinda impressed but also bummed at the same time because the whole point of this is to keep an even but quick pace to finish with a good time. If I walk at any point my test will be terminated and I will fail the entire PT test. That is very not good! I can’t afford for what happened yesterday to happen on test day.

I tried again this morning and it went a lot better. Not as fast as I’d like but I chalk that up to being a little sore from going too fast yesterday. Today I did finish 1.25 miles without walking in a time of 11:39 for a 9’19” pace.

Wow @starbee you are doing so great on those longer runs! Look at that pace on your 15 miler! So much faster than you need to be, that should allow you plenty of time to stop for any characters you want AND to slow down and keep your legs fresh. I’m so proud of you!
That was crazy yesterday, don’t even worry about it. You’re going to do great on your PT test, you are more than ready!
