    Didn’t realize I was so behind here… :surprised:

    @nascfan
    Wow! What a time and pace! :clap: you did great running on your own! So what does this mean for the future? ;) sometimes you do need a little held, I wear compression socks and use RockTape for longer distances and the difference they make is incredible!

    @rocketear Wow that 12 miler was scary!!! :surprised: that was rough for sure! But you did it and in good time too. The heat is killer. Seriously. My friend’s son passed out playing Nerf last week because it was the first time he’d been outside all summer and he wasn’t used to it. You really have to make sure you’re hydrating and with more than just water if you’re doing high levels of activity or when you’re out there for a while. It sounds like you did but like you said, you need to keep it consistent. If you didn’t hydrate well (or eat well) the day before that could still affect you. I find running so much harder in the heat and humidity!

    @10dedfish Sounds like you were productive and got a great workout in! :up: that is scary about the woman at the Spartan Beast! :surprised:

    @rocketear99
    Wow! Great time and pace – especially for the humidity! How fun to run in Florida :cool: Congrats on completing the challenge! :clap: I’m so glad your medals arrived!

    Sadly no updates from me :(

    Last week I was on orders and knew I wouldn’t be able to run because of my hours. Of course the mornings were beautiful – in the 60s most of the week! – because I had to start work at 6am at a location an hour from home. By the time I got back at 3pm it was way too hot to get a good run outside. I planned on using the stationary bike we have at home but I was too exhausted. I had to caffeinate on the drive home to stop myself from falling asleep :surprised: I did however get 10,000+ steps every day so at least there was that.

    This past week I planned on picking back up with the Dopey training plan but allergies seriously messed me up! I thought I was getting sick: headaches every single day that didn’t go away with Tylenol, pain in my mouth, throat, and ears, sneezing and coughing, and the Sudafed didn’t seem to do anything. I went to urgent care at one point because everything felt like it was getting worse and my throat hurt so bad it hurt even to drink water. I was probably drinking 8-16 oz of water a day because of that which I know is not enough. Anyway they said if anything it’s a virus and they can’t treat that. So I’ve been riding it out and I haven’t been running but I do feel a lot better today for the first time! My mom think I was just super run down from my crazy busy schedule. Hoping to pick back up with the running on Tuesday :)

    @starbee thank you so much! That means a lot to me! I’d love to break a 40 minute 5k, but that will only happen on my own. I refuse to leave Kathy when we’re together, she needs me too much. So I’ll go at whatever she can in any times and any races we’re together, make sure I continue to push myself when I have the opportunity, and hopefully find a not-too-expensive 5k that I can do on my own in the future.

    I’m so glad you’re feeling better today and I pray that continues! I know you want to get back out so bad!

    @nascfan That’s really awesome that you and Kathy go together! It’s a lot more fun to be with someone. Whenever I run with friends they’re usually faster than me so we always make a deal that they don’t have to wait on me :P I was wondering if you would venture out to do any races on your own. Thank you! It’s been the strangest thing. If it’s allergies, why aren’t allergy meds helping? If it’s more than allergies what the heck is it?! Feeling a lot better again today too. I’ve been able to hydrate properly yesterday and today, so I’m going to keep that up tomorrow and then run Tuesday. I’ve been easing in to strength training too with push ups and light weights yesterday.

    @starbee that is really strange if it’s allergies. I’m just glad you continue to improve. I was seriously worried about you. I look forward to you getting out on Tuesday!

    @nascfan I know! I was worried too because nothing was helping and it felt like I would never get better :( and the lack of hydration was scary. Me too!

    @nascfan I’m so proud of you !!! You did amazing !!

    @rocketEAR99
    great job ! That sounds like a cool 5k to do ! My son loves Black Panther.

    I ran last night 5.5 miles and was in my usual 13 minutes a mile, I didn’t wanna push it too hard because I knew I will be running today also.

    Crazy thing, with all the sweating I’m doing I’ve gotten a really bad rash on my back. I figured out it was due to the sweat because I didn’t run all weekend and it went away, when I ran yesterday it popped back up again so I don’t know what my bodies deal is LOL LOL

    @breesmommy5 Way to go! That happened to me during my simulated deployment week in basic training. It’s probably a heat rash which can get worse with sweating a lot (I was in full uniform + helmet and tactical vest and carrying an M16 in over 100 degrees – all day long). If it’s really bothering you, I found this works amazing: https://www.goldbond.com/blog/product/maximum-strength-medicated-foot-powder/ I know it’s foot powder but I put it everywhere I had the rash and it got rid of it real quick and then kept it at bay. Just don’t put too much on because it will sting :P

    @starbee I will try that thanks !! It went away and is soon as I started running it popped up again. I’ve tried everything even different shirts, sports bra, etc… oh my goodness I can’t imagine carrying all that on my back !!

    @breesmommy5 It definitely helps to wear more breathable clothing (my ABUs are not that way at all!) like polyester that will wick sweat as opposed to cotton that will soak it all up. You’d think sports bras wouldn’t be cotton for that reason but so many of them are! Mine was in BMT so I was getting rashes on my chest. But even so the heat rash can still happen so I would recommend the foot powder for sure – it works!

    @nascfan
    I sure was! :) I wasn’t feeling it but I got out there. I’ll post about it next. It’s been a crazy morning! I’ll tell you all about it offline

    After 2 weeks off, this morning’s run was ROUGH! :(

    I ran at 5:30am and it was already 75* and 91% humidity :down: I took Leia since she hadn’t been out in that time either and she really needed it! We ran around the neighborhood and she went bonkers it had been so long. At one point she pulled me so hard trying to chase a rabbit that she jerked me and I rolled my ankle :( I don’t really know what was so tough about the run today, I just felt a little more winded than usual I guess. The heat didn’t help, I felt so super sticky I just wanted to go home. It’s been that way all summer but I guess I’m just not used to it anymore LOL

    Time: 50:14
    Distance: 4.00
    Pace: 12’32”

    That is the slowest I think I’ve probably ever been but whatever, it’s over now! Just keep swimming! :dory:

    @starbee but you got it in! There will always be those struggle days, lurking around the corner, ready to slap you in the face just when you think you’re invincible. But you got it in! Heat, humidity, the allergies you’ve been dealing with will all take their toll, but you got it in! I am so proud of you! You keep up that hard work, even on those struggle days! You are doing great!

    @nascfan Thank you! :) Yes I knew it would suck and I wasn’t looking forward to it, but I knew I just had to get it done and cross that bridge. Come the winter time I’ll be begging for this heat and humidity again LOL Not sure where to pick up now with the Dopey training after taking an unexpected 2 weeks off. Need to figure that out. I should probably repeat the last week I did before moving forward.
