    @RocketEAR99 Way to go on your 11 miler!!! You guys still held a great pace! The summer runs are no joke! I hope your new shoes help you out, break them in slowly though! You are doing awesome on your training! When the temps start dropping, your pace will do better. So you should be able to get a better POT in September if your temps are favorable! And honestly if you don’t get a fast enough POT at that race, you will still do great in any corral! I’ve been placed from mid-pack to back-pack for my corrals and was able to finish well within the time parameters. The nice things is that for the half and full within each corral they release around 1,000 runners at a time. So if you happen to be in a large corral, don’t worry! You no longer all start at the same time! It allows people to spread out a bit. I’m so glad that you didn’t feel sick after this run!!! Keep at it!! You are doing amazing on your training!

    @starbee WAHOO!!!!!! Way to go on your 15 miler!! And awesome pace too!!!! I was nowhere near that pacing at that distance! I can usually hold strong for my first 10 miles and then I get a bit slow from there! LOL I’m glad the new trail worked well for you and was shaded! That’s such a help in these hot temperatures! All of your other training runs look awesome too! You are doing amazing at staying on track with your Dopey training! You are going to rock it!!! Those long runs are really mind over body! I’m also happy to see that you were mostly able to stick with your ratios! That’s awesome! The more you can do that, the easier it will be at the races too!

    @bexruns Aw! Becky! I’m so sorry to hear about your Aunt! All of our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family! Don’t even give your training and checking in on your workouts a second thought! I know that you will be back to your runs once you can be. But for now, focus on your family! Big hugs!!! :heart:

    @starbee I really hope that you have favorable weather for Dopey! Truly their temps will be all over the place! Praying you get your ideal! It was so stinking cold for ours that we really were begging the sun to rise! So stinking cold! In the teens and twenties with wind chill for the 5k and 10k. I think we were just above freezing at the start of our half. And it was a heat wave around 40* for the start of our full! LOL This year they experienced all 4 seasons during the course of the 4 days. Unfortunately they got summer on the full marathon day. So plan for the worst in either direction on temps and hope for the best!! Pack shorts, capris, full lined tights, tank tops, short sleeves, long sleeves, gloves, ear covers, sun visor, sun glasses! LOL I don’t care what the forecast says, pack it all!!!! I will say that it’s pretty cool to watch the sunrise while on the race course! You definitely won’t see it for the 5k or 10k! LOL I didn’t take my sunglasses at all for the two races. I did have them for the half and full. When the sun comes up, even when it’s cold, it can be blinding!

    Hi everyone ! I ran/walked Sunday and Monday, Sunday I almost got 6 miles in and Monday was 4.76 at 13.05 pace, i’m so excited my pace is getting better. I’ve been trying to work on my breathing while I run because it’s so hard to not get winded for me. I think that’s part of what is keeping me slower.

    Going to try to rest today and run tomorrow. :)

    @bexruns I’m sorry for your loss :( I completely understand not running but I saw you got out there this morning! Sometimes it can help to take your mind off everything. I’m sure your mom is happy to have you during this difficult time.

    @breesmommy5
    Breathing is a huge part! I was breathing all wrong for the longest time and I think that was a big factor in why running was so hard for me. Great job on setting it right!

    Way to go @breesmommy5 !!! So happy to see your pace is improving! :up: :clap:

    It’s different for everyone I’m sure, and I’m a mouth-breather by nature, but when on the running intervals, I tend to inhale during 2 steps and exhale during the next 2 steps. It works pretty well for me :)

    @eeyorepoohfan Thank you! :) I was happy with that pace. Getting out earlier helped for sure and also having that shade. Heat is what really screws with my pace. I have had runs where I hit 10 miles and then really start to slow down but thankfully that wasn’t one of them. It is mind over body for sure! Yes I was able to stick to my ratios with the exception of: the crosswalks, the 2-3 hills (can’t remember how many) and then the last mile. At that time it was 10am, 86* and I was in pure sunlight. I was getting fed up :P I have been able to stay on track so far but I’m worried about the next few weeks. I will not be able to stick to it and I don’t want to regress too far. I’ll be on orders next week so I won’t have time for longer runs and the shorter runs will be incredibly hot because I won’t have time before work (I’ll already be getting up at 4am) so it would have to be after and we’re getting close to triple digits every day. I can get all of my 4 mile runs in so I will definitely still be running, but I won’t be able to complete the longer ones. The week after that is the same, I’ll have drill at the weekend so no time again to complete a long run unless I go during the hottest part of the day when I get off, which is a hard pass.

    On July 12, we ran 5K. For me it was for the Iron Man Virtual 5K. It was so stinking humid and hot in the morning as it has been lately. We managed to complete it in 0:35:45 with a 11’30″/mile pace. Not too shabby! Full Stats: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/3849103583

    On July 15, I did my usual 30-minute paced workout. I’ve been upping my running time by 30 seconds each week so now I’m running the first 4:30 and doing 30/30 intervals for much of the rest of it with three 2-minute walk breaks scattered in between. It’s not helping my pace much, but it is building my endurance! I actually had to walk my 1/2 mile home track before doing the workout because last week’s storm left many obstructing tree branches and there were about a dozen spider webs I had to clear – of course they’re all at the same level as my face so I’d be swallowing them if I just went for my run without clearing them :P In 30 minutes, I ran 2.44 miles for a pace of 12’18″/mile.

    Side note: the new shoes are working out just fine! :)

    @eeyorepoohfan I do plan on bringing all of those things! We saw the weather change out of nowhere on our last Disney trip. We were having temps in the 90s and then they said a cold front would come in within the next 24 hours and it dropped down to 40s in the morning and night with highs only in the 50s during the day. I only had t-shirts! But thankfully I did have jeans and a hoodie too. I do need to pick up some more stuff before Dopey and I was actually thinking about that this morning. I have the things you mentioned but not throwaway items. As far as the weather goes, as long as we don’t get extremes in either direction during race weekend I think I’ll be happy. By then I will have trained in everything!

    Thank you everyone !! LOL LOL I had to google and look at videos online about the breathing because I’m a mouth breather when running and I get so out of breath.

    Thank you so much for the support everyone :heart:

    I planned on running after work yesterday but it was over 90 degrees out, so that was a big fat no. I rowed for 30 minutes instead and did some work around the house to get ready for the swarm of people coming to visit.
    And then this morning I did manage to get up and run so there’s that :D

    @rocketear99
    great job! You’re working with the same humid crap that starbee is and you are doing fantastic! I’m so proud of you with your Dopey training, you’re going to kill it!

    @bexruns

    @nascfan thank you! It definitely helped. We have SO much going on this week and its so hot that if I wanted to get it done it was early or never.

    I’m sure I’ll hit the wall at like 12 though :smirk: zzz
