    Holy Schnikies!!! Ran 6 miles today at a great pace and managed negative splits!!! What a difference it makes to have full sunshine with nice temps! I was getting a bit tired and sore. Ryan was getting hot spots on his feet. But we did it!

    @breesmommy5 Aw!! Thank you so much!! You will get there!! The intervals are helping me keep pace and endurance so much! I still run 60 seconds and walk for 30 seconds. I seem to stay much more consistent on my pacing throughout the run.

    So loving the winter weather for my runs! Minus the wind, that is
    :P
    It was 22° when I headed out this morning with a real-feel of 17° but oooooh baby, the sun was shining and there was just the slightest breeze and IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!
    Ran 8 miles pacing under 10 min/mile and loved every second of it! What a great run to finish off a tough week.
    Now I just need to buy some new running kicks. These babies are at the end of their life.
    :heart: :up:

    Y’all are putting me to shame! :( great job @missingWDW @rocketear99 @breesmommy5 @eeyorepoohfan

    Hopefully soon I’ll get out of my winter rut. I did run on Wednesday but after that we had bad weather and I’ve had a pretty beastly week so I was not feeling it. I’m hoping I can get back on the saddle once my temporary duty ends and I’m home. That way I can have a better routine and start cooking actual food. I also prefer my trails here or running around my neighborhood before work. There is a pretty trail on base but it’s only 1.5 miles. There’s a longer tail I could run on either before or after the pretty trail, but it’s so boring. It runs alongside a road, it’s completely open so lots of wind, it’s kinda hilly, and with all those cars I feel like everyone driving by can see me “running” and laugh at me. I know, it’s in my head, but it’s hard to motivate myself to pathetically run that route.

    How many days until spring?

    @starbee Don’t even try to beat yourself up! I promise you that my running has been nearly non-existent this entire winter! I’ve been a wimp with our temps and such and haven’t gotten out like I should have been. I have to get and keep my butt in gear because our next half marathon is less than 3 months away! I can’t handle another race as bad as last April’s! That was too painful! You will definitely find your groove and routine once you get done with your temporary duty and back home! And back to home cooked food! Please don’t be hard on yourself! Get out when you can and listen to your body. Don’t let the road and cars intimidate you. I run alongside a pretty busy road here in town. I’m sure many people have their thoughts when they see me on my runs, but I just shove that out of my mind and keep putting one foot in front of the other! You’ve got this!!!

    On Saturday, Christy and I ran the Abominable Quadzilla 5K in Yorklyn, DE. Let me tell you, that beastly thing :beast: was aptly named! It involves going up and down the same steep hill 4 times!!! I think the elevation change was about 150 feet. AND it was COLD. It snowed later in the day and through part of Sunday. :snow: They run this 5K 3 times each year with about 30 participants each time and at the start of our race they told us only one (1) person had thus far finished in under 30 minutes. :surprised: Christy looked at me and said, “I think we can do it in 35.” I looked at her and said, “I’d be happy to finish in under 45.” :smirk:

    The first time up the hill we ran part of the way. We were ambitious. Then walked (read hiked/climbed) the rest. One person used a pair of walking sticks to help her up the hill :surprised: We regained our breath and then I was able to finally exclaim “MOTHER OF PEARL!” :donald: (sorry if you were hoping for something more profane). We then ran large portions of the more level top of the hill before trotting back down. We hiked/climbed up the other 3 times.

    Well, we finished at 43:09 – giving us an average pace of 13’55″/mile. I’ll take it! The run took place near a microbrewery, and afterward all participants got a free beer of their choice! Can’t argue with that!

    So ends our toughest 5K yet. I don’t think we’ll be doing it again! Maybe just return to the microbrewery, buy a beer, and watch the show! :goofy:

    @starbee , trust me, they’re not laughing at you. They’re not even looking at you. They’re too busy shoving their faces with cheeseburgers, texting and driving, checking Facebook, being self absorbed in their pitiful lives while you, you are out there being the champion that you are! So say thhhbbbbttt to all of them and do your thing!

    @rocketea99 WOW! Way to go to both you and Christy! No thank you! That was just incredible! A few beers are called for after that! Awesome, awesome job!

    Wow! That’s some 5K, and definitely not something I’d enjoy!
    LOL
    Kudos to you and Christy for completing it well and under 45!

    Cold weather continues here, and I FORCED myself out of bed this morning to run. But I’m so glad I did. I really took my time and enjoyed to cold weather. @starbee, I still haven’t worn my “bank robber” head cover yet, although I could have used it this morning. And I really need a good pair of mittens to run in. My fingers just freeze in my gloves!
    :snow: :elsa: :snow:

    @rocketear99
    @starbee @eeyorepoohfan 65 days till spring???

    “Enjoyed the cold weather” that’s something you’ll never hear me say! LOL Nope, we’re forced inside to the track here until after Rival Weekend. But hopefully after that we can get back outside at least some.
