Perhaps lost in the shuffle the past few days, resort children’s activity centers will be closing this summer. Kids night out babysitting will still be available.

January 18, 2018 at 9:08 am #63415Interesting…I’ll admit that i haven’t used the activity centers for many years. Once one kid was old enough to babysit the others they would rather hang out in the room with tv and ipads while mommy and daddy go out to eat or hit the parks for a couple hours.
January 18, 2018 at 9:12 am #63417Never used them, never cared for them. I will miss flying past Lilo’s Playhouse on the Monorail though.
January 18, 2018 at 9:18 am #63419We knew that Disney offered the services and had the space allocated, but we never used the activity centers. I guess Disney just wasn’t seeing enough return on the investment in those spaces.
January 18, 2018 at 10:51 am #63429I never used this service, but I’m sure that some families out there will be disappointed.
January 18, 2018 at 10:58 am #63433I never noticed that they were used a lot…Most folks I know bring their “babysitters” (read “other family members who can babysit”) with them.
January 18, 2018 at 11:00 am #63435I enjoyed those clubs when I was a kid. I’m sad that my future children will never get to experience that like I did. Kids Nite Out just isn’t the same.

bexruns374 XPInteresting. I went to check on Pinocchios Workshop at the Grand Cal and apparently it closed last year.
Same reason.
January 18, 2018 at 12:40 pm #63453Awww, that’s kind of sad! My sister and I went into the one at the Poly a few years ago when it was still the Neverland Club, just to take a peek. The CMs showed us around and it was SO cute!! I would have loved to hang out there if I was a kid! Heck, I wanted to hang out there as an adult!

basil248 XPI’m glad the Kids Night Out programs are remaining. Our kids 10 & 7 love going there!! As parents, we certainly enjoy one kid free night to hit a nice restaurant and wander, but it’s usually the kids who request/demand to go there one night during our trip. We never really used the area during the day. If we are back at the resort in the afternoon it is usually pool or nap time as a family. I’m sure those who did take advantage will miss it, but Disney can’t be expected to staff an area that has low/no attendance.
February 8, 2018 at 2:59 pm #65803This makes me sad, Cammie loved going to the kids clubs! After spending all that time with us, she needed a break too and wanted to hang out with other kids! That was always the biggest draw of those over the babysitting service, that she got to play with other kids and do some cool crafts and activities.

I totally understand, you’re not going to provide a service people don’t want, but as someone who experienced this first hand it’s still sad

That’s a good point. My BIL used the in-room babysitting service once and said his 3 kids were going nuts stuck in the small room at CSR. He had to go pick them up early!

basil248 XPNow that I re-read this, I misunderstood. I thought Disney was doing away with the afternoon activities in the Kids Club areas, but were keeping the evening service where parents could drop the kids off for a few hours. It looks like that is all going and the only thing being kept is the in-room babysitting service. This is definitely a bummer.
March 10, 2018 at 7:43 am #69039This isn’t a children’s activity center but it looks pretty cool and potentially fun!
