I’ve stayed at POFQ 2x, and I have stayed at the Boardwalk 0x. I can give you pros and cons of only POFQ:

    POFQ Pros:
    -Boat to Disney Springs
-Terrific small size of the resort… everything is close by!
-1 Bus Stop which I really loved. The larger resorts sometimes have multiple stops which takes longer.
-Beignets!! I believe its the only location on WDW property that sells them. http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2016/03/17/onthelist-beignets-now-with-dipping-sauces-at-disneys-port-orleans-resort-french-quarter/
-The rooms are very comfy, and I really like the decor. http://www.portorleans.org/gallery-POFQ-Rooms.php
-The pool bar is terrific. There are plenty of seats, and the service is great. http://www.portorleans.org/mardigrogs.php
-The food court is pretty good. I’ve only eaten breakfast and lunch there, but the food was standard with other WDW food courts.
-The atmosphere of the resort is very relaxing. If you’ve ever been to New Orleans, you will literally feel like you are there again. Seriously!
-You can walk ‘next door’ to the Port Orleans Riverside and visit. I feel like its maybe 1/4 mile or so between the 2 resorts along the river.

    POFQ Cons:
    – No Sit Down restaurant… only Food Court.
    – The pool area is weird. Its small, its shaped weird, and its a HUGE green dragon in the middle of it. We spend several hours every day at our WDW resort pools, and this is our least favorite of all 4 Moderate Resort pools.

There’s not really that much that I can say BAD about POFQ. Like I mentioned previously, I have stayed there 2x, and I look forward to staying there again.

I hope this information is helpful!

Thanks for that great advanced scouting report!
They used to have a really nice sit down restaurant that served Cajun food.
    Too bad its gone.

I wish I had input for the Boardwalk. Maybe 1 day I’ll stay there :D

Which way are you leaning? POFQ or Boardwalk?

I spent a few nights at POFQ many years ago. Never at the Boardwalk but I have at the yacht club and Beach club so I know the area.
I do remember the POFQ was quaint and a bit “romantic”?
I seem to remember long waits for the bus though.
Since it’s 1/2 the price of the Boardwalk, I’m leaning heavily toward the POFQ.

I have nothing to add, but @acamm, I know exactly who I’m going to if/when we ever get around to planning a WDW trip. ;)

The woman covered POFQ so very well! About the only thing I can add is POFQ is so very quiet. That makes it so relaxing to me and has just a great atmosphere. Early morning walks down by the river are one of my favorite things to do there.
I’ve never stayed at Boardwalk either so I can’t help there. Hopefully someone will be along who can.

@imarebelpilot And when I plan my DL trip for 2018, I’m most definitely going to be coming to you with a billion questions! :D

@figment I don’t personally remember exceptionally bad bus service at POFQ. Having stayed at all 4 Moderates, I feel like some days the waits for busses are long, and others short. I think that its different each day for each resort. I have had bad and good bus service at each resort I’ve stayed at for sure. Bus transportation is an area that WDW could stand for improvements in my opinion.

Well if we save $2500 on two rooms, I can deal with a bit of a wait for el buso!
More dinero para cervesa fria con limon verde!

We’ve stayed at both resorts a few times… POFQ is our go to when money is a concern…. Boardwalk is our go to when we want to splurge.
Acamm has hit the nail on the head for POFQ…. so I cannot add anything there.
My biggest pro for the Boardwalk (or Yacth and Beach club for that matter) is location. You can walk to two parks at your leisure. I’m at odds with the bus service and I see this as a BIG pro for us! You also have a few sit down restaurants to choose from. Not much in the negative category except for cost.
So, budget be damned, go with the Boardwalk (or Yacth and Beach club). Or if money is a concern, you really cannot beat POFQ!

POFQ was very nice when my hubby and I went just the two of us. Feels much more “grown up” to me than kiddish…in fact the hubby didn’t like the look of it…he thought it felt like an old person’s place. ha!!

    Exactly!
We usually end up in the WS most nights (all adults) and walking “home” is a nice treat.
    Buses can be a pain.
