Haven’t been in a while… we get whatever room location cause we always rent a vehicle so it doesn’t matter where we are…

I’m not sure what all the unique food items are but I do know that they have a tie-dyed cheesecake.
We like to stay in the 50’s section. It seems to be the closest to Classic Hall and the bus stops without paying the preferred prices, which is mostly the 60’s section.
We’ve stayed there numerous times and always enjoyed it, hope you will too!

50’s is my favorite. For one thing, I love the 50’s ;) but as @Nascfan said, you’re so well located. Close to the pool, Classic Hall (lobby area, food, gift shop, soda fountain) as well as the bus stop and Skyliner. We were a 5 minute walk from everything.

I will have to try the tie-dyed cheesecake!

I’ve requested the 50’s section so hopefully we get it.

Are there any fun things to do there? I’ve heard about secret menus at ASM, anything like that?

We were in the 80s and didn’t mind any of the walks. The grounds are so much fun!

I’m not sure about secret menus. Those may be limited at this time. I know they have rented surrey bikes for a nice trip around Hourglass Lake in the past. my wife and I did that one trip. It was a lot of fun and a nice time, something away from the parks. But those are also probably on hiatus due to COVID restrictions. So much has been put on hold. :(

Yeah, so much is on hold right now. I can’t wait for it to get back to normal…..

We are sure to have fun on our trip in a couple weeks but I’m a little concerned about what will be open and what we will be able to do. The whole ‘park reservation’ thing is a bit daunting.

Anyway, we are looking forward to checking out the POP! Should be a blast

They do sell the Dole Whips there now.
We’ve stayed in 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. We all love Pop. It’s almost become a tradition for us to stay there.
None of these were a long walk for us. If I had to choose, I would choose the 60’s or 70’s again. In 60’s we were right next to the pool and just behind Classic Hall. Great location. The 70’s would be my second choice because we had a room close to the bus stops and it was an easy walk to and from there.

We will either be staying here or at Poly in March depending on if we use DVC or not (my in-laws are DVC members). I’m glad to hear these tips as well!

Definitely try the tie dye cheesecake. I saw that they made the portion a lot smaller by putting it into one of those generic little round cake cups like you get at the quick service places and that’s disappointing. It used to be a big slice and it was much more appetizing to look at. Nothing about those little round things makes you want to buy them. We stayed in the 60’s section facing the pool and I wouldn’t do that again. We could hear the music inside our room. I like a bit more peace than that.

I’ll agree with everyone that the 50’s is a great area, but so is the 80’s . With exception of building C in the 50’s, both of these sections are considered standard view so they are the cheaper rate. These sections are all close to the main building and only a short walk (the 80’s section might be through the parking lot) to all the good stuff. They have a pretty good gift shop and a good variety of food. There are 3 pools so there is always some pool to go through, if that is your speed. Just note, the main pool (The Hippy Dippy pool) is typically the most crowded while the pool in the 80’s area (The computer pool) is less crowded but for good reason. It is just a square pool. It is a relatively short walk over to Art of Animation where there are more food choices then you can imagine. My last stay at Pop, I was in the 80’s section, 3rd floor. It took about 15 minutes to walk over to AoA, but enjoyable as AoA has such great theming it is worth it – please note, Pop doesn’t have a great theme if that is something you are looking for.
Food, there is only 1 food option on this property, but again AoA is just a short walk away. It is food court style with an island in the middle to fill your own cups/mugs along with the coffee fill station. I can’t necessary recommend a specific food option, as it is food court food. Although the Tie-Dye Cheesecake is typically recommended, it is just cheesecake so unless cheesecake is a MUST to you, skip it and get it at one of the sit-down restaurants. It is ok, just small and not worth the price or calories.
My family typically stays at value resorts, as we only need a place to sleep and shower but this is always our go-to value. And now they have a skyliner stop here, (shared with AoA), it just makes it more enticing.
Let me know if you need more information, I would be happy to help!! :) :) :)
