Disneydana12 XPThat’s just going to be a pain in the arse. Aaaaaall that trash Disney creates and they pick on straws? Why not just up your game with recycling? I keep picturing the tons and tons and tons of plastic silverware and drink lids etc….straws. Straws are the breaking point.

davemm25 XPI was reading it as in they were supplying paper or alternatives to plastic, anyone know if that is the case? Then yes you’re correct, plastic lids and cutlery would be next, wooden “forks” like you get with fish and chips would be the answer!

I don’t know offhand but I would probably check the Disney Parks Blog since that’s an official source and the link posted is not. There may be more information/details from Disney themselves.

DizLuvrKAli83 XPI say: FINALLY!! It’s about time they do this. I live near the shore and we’ve had a “ban” on plastic straws here for the past year and it’s been totally fine. If you go to restaurants, they don’t have any. The reason why straws is picked on the most is because you can’t really recycle plastic straws, most recycling facilities don’t take them because they get stuck in their machinery. And we all know about the turtles…. (if you don’t google straws and sea turtle).
With the amount of garbage Disney creates, this is a wonderful thing! Cutting down on the plastic bags, plastic straws, anything else they do to help reduce their foot print is a wonderful thing. I’m sure the plastic lids and utensils will be next. Disney has been handing out paper straws for years at Animal Kingdom and no one has ever complained. I think this is a wonderful thing!
Kudos to Disney!April 26, 2019 at 9:12 am #108467doesn’t surprise me…last time i was there a lot of the restaurants weren’t handing out lids or straws. i’m a clutz and bump into things…i can live without the straw but i need a lid!

Kudos to Disney!Ok so if they are replacing them with paper ones, it makes more sense. I was just thinking they were doing away with them and leaving all of the rest which made no sense but I didn’t realize that recycling doesn’t take them. Seems like they could make something to melt them all down into a big blob.

DizLuvrKAli83 XPI agree @DisneyDana. You’d think they’d figure out how to recycle plastic bags by now too.
