    D-Cot Meet up trip!!
    Wednesday October 10th:
2:30am wake up. Did the last minute bathroom packing and such. Out the door by 3:45am and parked at the airport at 4:50am. It had suddenly gotten cold in the mornings at home. So we wore jeans and light jackets to the airport. But we had shorts in our bag to change into. We changed out of our jeans and into shorts before checking our bags in. We had zero wait at the check in counter for our luggage. Security was only about 10 minutes this morning. We had a 6:20am flight so we were there before the bigger crowds came. We grabbed breakfast burritos to get some fuel and protein in us. They are always yummy at this place in the airport! Our layover was in Austin. We did some walking around to stretch our legs. I got a call from Buena Vista so I had a feeling it was something WDW related. I answered and the CM said they are having some maintenance issues at FQ and are going to drop us from a Garden View to a standard view and refund us the difference (only a total of like $35). I told her that we booked the Garden View room long ago and am not paying that much to look at a parking lot. She said she would see if someone else would change their room view. I’m just thankful I got that call on our layover and not surprised by a non-view room upon arrival. I would not have been a happy camper. We left out of Austin on time at 10am right on time. We had been concerned about our flights because Hurricane Michael was fast approaching land and going to be in our path. The pilot took a slightly more northern route and we stayed over land the entire time, instead of going over the Gulf. We hit some light turbulence when we got near Atlanta, but not bad at all. I’ve had way worse of turbulence before. We actually landed just a few minutes early, even with the detour! I think the pilot was going faster than usual to beat out the hurricane. Flights that left after us and heading to Orlando were very delayed. We landed at 1:30pm and were on the Magical Express by 2pm! We waited for more people and left by 2:20pm. We were the 3rd of 4 stops to drop off. We were excited to stay at French Quarter again! Our last stay here was back in April of 2016 (I believe). We received our room text while on the DME and had room 7233. It was indeed a Garden View, and if we looked to our left we could see the river! Fantastic and beautiful spot! But before heading to our room we grabbed our refillable Halloween themed mug and lunch of a Steak & Cheese Po Boy with steak fries and cole slaw for me. Ryan had the BBQ burger with steak fries and macaroni salad. SO MUCH FOOD! We easily could have shared! The Steak & Cheese Po Boy was the standout for lunch though! While we were eating, we were hit with a major downpour of rain. It was from the tail of Hurricane Michael. Thankfully it was fast moving and gone by the time we were ready to start walking to our room. The room refurb was perfect here! They put in the new laminate floors, new beds, huge TV, upgraded the ceiling fan and lights. New mirror and lighting in the bathroom too. We were very pleased! The last time we stayed here the rooms were feeling very tired. We changed our shirts and freshened up real quick before heading to Magic Kingdom! We waited about 10 minutes for our bus. I love being to close to MK at FQ! We were there in no time! We were dropped off at 5pm. My Magic Band didn’t want to work at the turnstiles. They were able to get it cleared and I entered the park.

We went straight to Space to our our FP that ended at 5:10pm. The FP line was beyond the People Mover! Standby was 80 minutes but jumped to 95 minutes while we were standing there. It was so stinking hot and muggy after that rain. I think we waited nearly 15 minutes before we even got to the touch points! But we made it! While we rode, the People Mover broke down and we could see the lights on during our ride. As we exited Space the skies opened up and down poured again! We stopped under protection to pull out our umbrellas and the poncho on our Camelbak pack. We made our way to Jungle Cruise to use our 5:45pm FP. On our walk over we saw the new entrance to Club 33! The rain had stopped by the time we boarded our boat for Jungle Cruise and had a fantastic Skipper! Thunder had been down due to the rain but it was back up for us to use our 6:25pm FP. Standby was posted as 45 minutes but we could easily see it was much longer. We waited about 15 minutes with our FP’s. While in line at Thunder I was able to snag a Buzz FP for 8:35pm. We were getting a little hungry so we shared the Pub Tot’s at Friar’s Nook and took them over to eat inside of Pinocchio’s since there was nowhere to sit outside with it being so busy. The tots were so yummy!!! Our shoes were soaked and we were getting tired from our crazy early morning. We took a spin on Carousel of Progress. When we stood up after sitting there for our attraction, we decided our feet were already too sore from being wet. We decided to call it a night and released our Buzz FP’s. Main Street was packed at 8:15pm already for the 9pm Happily Ever After. So we used the bypass to exit the park. We were at the bus stop at 8:35pm and boarded at 8:50pm. Back home just after 9pm. We stopped in the food court for a brownie and a cupcake snack. They were yummy! We strolled to our room. Our luggage was waiting for us. We got everything unpacked and settled. Lights out around 11pm.

You probably got a good tail wind push from the hurricane. Sounds like it was BUSY

I think we did get a bit of a tailwind! But that crew was hustling to get us off the ground in Austin! They had us loaded crazy fast and that door closed moments after the last person boarded! They weren’t messing around! Our entire trip was crazy crowded and busy! Like, Marathon race weekend crowds. Near Christmas crowd level! The entire time! It was crazy!

Ah, the first day! I was on pins and needles with that hurricane, SO glad you made it around it! Those fastpasses, they worked beautifully! What a great setup that was! ;)
I am sorry about the rain, but thankful it cleared out for the rest of the time.

It was crazy rain! But it cut the heat and humidity while it was raining! LOL We won’t speak of what happened as soon as it stopped! LOL

I’m thankful you got that call at the layover! I would be ticked if I showed up and was downgraded! :surprised:
And I’m also really thankful you made it here safely! I too was on edge about the Hurricane! Too bad you still got some of it at the parks! :surprised:
Holy cow, that sounds crowded! Space FP was out to the Peoplemover?!?! :surprised: How did you make it through the night?
I read “Pop Tarts” instead of Pup Tots and I got reeaaaaally confused LOL

I’m so thankful I took the call too! I would have accepted an upgrade to the Poly! ;) But no downgrades! The funny thing with the hurricane is that we got hit with one here at home while we were in FL! They got like 3 inches of rain in one day! It was crazy crowded! !! I made a typo! They are Pub Tots! But I like how you read it! LOL

I mean, who wouldn’t accept that upgrade??? LOL After all that trouble anyway, I’d think you deserve it anyway! LOL
What?!?? It actually rained in the desert? And it was a Hurricane? That’s crazy!!!! :surprised:
Haha! I didn’t even recognize the typo because I’ve never looked at the menu. But I’d still be surprised if it served Pop Tarts, even more surprised if you got them and enjoyed them! LOL LOL

You’d be crazy to not accept that upgrade! I think I deserved it too!
We’ve actually had a few hurricanes hit us. Of course they are tropical storms by the time they get here. It sat on Las Cruces for a whole day. One year it sat on us for like 3 days! We need rain, but not that much at once!
I did go and correct the typo now. But your comment made me go look to see what I ate! LOL Um, Pop Tarts are awesome! My tummy just doesn’t agree!

3 days?!?!?Jeez!!! :surprised: Us Floridians don’t need hurricanes. We get enough rain as it is! LOL
I’m glad I helped you find the typo! Now it’s all good! LOL I have to agree with you, but who would want to pay Disney prices for brand-name Pop Tarts and then actually be like, “Yeah, that was a wise spending of my time and money at Disney.”?

Yep! That was an over achiever! LOL No, you guys don’t need the extra rain! Thanks for helping!! Hey, if they shaped it in a :) head shape, it would be worth it!!
