Good call on making this thread. It’s very meh. It’s not ugly. But it’s very bland. Is there any reasonably decent backstory? There aren’t silly giant figures on it, either, which, to me, help those two hotels to blend in with the rest of the World in a small way. What’s the themeing? Jury is definitely out for me on this…

basil248 XPThanks for sharing this. It looks like Disney is doing a lot to invest in this area. I doubt this resort will be open in time for Galaxy’s Edge, but with the anticipation of increased interest in both HS and Epcot, it makes sense to add a nearby resort, even if it is a third party lease situation. While the concept art doesn’t get me excited, the description sounds great! I can only imagine the view from that restaurant! Fireworks all around!

Exactly what I was going to say! It looks like an office building in an industrial park. Needs some Disney theming for sure. I feel the same about Universal’s upcoming hotel too. Maybe this is some bad trend now?
February 27, 2018 at 10:56 am #67911Eww. I get that it’s not owned by Disney…but they could have made it a little more Disney-fied somehow! I agree 100% with everyone who said it looks like an office building. Very generic!
February 27, 2018 at 11:00 am #67912I agree! It can still be pretty and it should be! That looks identical to the Gateway Mortgage Group building we have here in my city who wants to feel like they’re at work while on vacation?

Oh my gosh, I was thinking the same thing!! It looks like any corporate office you seen when driving down one of the interstates around St. Louis!! And one of the reasons I love Disney World so much is that it makes me feel like I’ve been transported to somewhere totally different than where I already live!
February 27, 2018 at 12:03 pm #67915Could they make it any more stale and cold and generic? Bleh.

chris_white2323327 XPI wrote this (pretty much) to PA yesterday. looks to me the design team is all in on getting a LEED certification for the building, and they’re all in on energy and environmental design, plus quick completion on design and construction given the symmetry (or if you like, cookie cutter) aspects. Looks to me like a contemporary design any architectural firm in the US could develop, with the focus on git-r-done and open so they can start getting paid. the only striking thing, if you want to call it that, is the roof design.
Mark my words – we’ll hear more about the energy and environmental efficiency of the design and construction than we will theming. And if you want my take on LEED or energy/environmental design and construction, let me know and I can bore you to death with it.
I hate to sound so negative on it – if this were in a regular place, I’d say it looks nice and hope it succeeds. but since it’s Disney, I expect more, even from the outward appearance.
