Starting Aug. 13, Epcot will relaunch the attraction with a brand new experience and an enhanced version of the “classic” Mission: SPACE. This “mission” has been enhanced with new, HD video to make it even clearer
Mission: SPACE ‘Relaunches’ Aug. 13 With Brand New Experiences
July 27, 2017 at 10:22 am #41376Well at least something is opening in time for my visit!
July 27, 2017 at 10:29 am #41380Yep… they did it special for your trip too I hear @RocketEar99
July 27, 2017 at 10:31 am #41381So now green team and orange team are different rides, I think I’ll have to do both
July 27, 2017 at 10:31 am #41382I’m excited for this! Shoot, even the green sounds like fun! I like the idea of two different missions and experiences. I’ve always been a fan of this much maligned ride and I’m looking forward to riding in October.

July 27, 2017 at 11:22 am #41410@Acamm That was nice of them to think of me, but if they think I’ll accept this as an apology for closing Great Movie Ride, they’re wrong!
July 27, 2017 at 11:30 am #41419I was not a huge fan of this ride. Doesnt affect me either way seeing as I won’t be riding it.

Spoilers Ahead! Spoilers Ahead!
It looks like orange storyline hasn’t changed. @RIDisneyPinGuy I think we’re safe in that they didn’t tone that down.
Green looks like something fun to try.

RIDisneyPinGuy182 XPThey could have kept the story, yet still dialed back the spin. Thanks for the share @nascfan, but going to hold off watching.
August 12, 2017 at 5:43 pm #44214@RIDisneyPinGuy, I don’t think they dialed back the spinning. Other sites I’ve seen today are reporting that the height limit has lowered for green only and green is the only one that they have the booster seats for. I think it’s the same based on those reports. I will find out in October though!

Disneydana12 XPI watched the videos and it doesn’t look like the relaunch is going to make any kind of dent in the lack of people willing to ride. Still no waits and no crowd gathering around. IMO this ride was one of the imaginears biggest mistakes. It really only caters to a certain kind of crowd and apparently WDW isn’t much of a draw to that type. I wish it would have been a lesson to Disney that their parks do not need to try to compete with the thrill parks. While I love a good thrill ride, I know I can go elsewhere for that. I actually enjoy the slow paced, family friendly rides that Disney offers. It’s a different kind of vacation to me. I loved Epcot back in the day. My favorite type of rides are the omnimover/educational rides where you get to sit down for a while and look. I never get tired of those. I would have much preferred an updated version of Horizons and World of Motion over what is there now. I’m so glad I got to see those two things on my first couple of trips. It’s just not the same without them. There is something to be said for the cheesiness of the old rides like that. It’s nostalgic and brought us all back to a better day. If I could have one wish it would be that the people at Disney would do as Walt intended with all that room and land, add to, and not take away. I don’t think they get just how much money a Nostalgialand 5th gate would bring in! Only Disney could do that, and do it well enough to make you feel like you had gone back in time. Okay okay…I’m done. :'(
September 13, 2017 at 9:11 am #48456So I actually did it. I did Orange for the first time ever (NEVER AGAIN).
I stayed away from Spoilers, so I don’t know what’s in the video. Both pre-shows are almost identical to the original, only the same lines and less lines.
Orange had not much difference. It looks less like Mars to me now.Green was one of the most PEACEFUL things I have ever experienced (besides the landing). I would definitely do Green again.
