I’m wondering the best strategy to ensure I get my son enrolled in the Jedi Training Academy. I know there are only a few hundred spots a day and it’s a first-come, first-served basis, so obviously I need to ensure I’m at the park as early as possible. One parent suggested making breakfast reservations at Hollywood and Vine to get into the park earlier than most, which I think is a great suggestion. How do I time this? If breakfast starts at 8am, but I want to make sure I have time to wait in a possible line to register for Training Academy before my breakfast reservation, what do you think would be the best?? I was thinking an 8:30 reservation, be at the park by 8…will they let me in 30 minutes before my reservation? Anyone else have experience with this? :kylo: :vader: We must defeat the Dark Side. (Actually my kid adores Vader, so he may not fight… we’ll see!)

I may not be understanding you correctly, if you’re able to be in the park at 8am, are you thinking about trying to register him at 8am? If the park isn’t actually open at that time, I don’t think you could register him then. From my experience when you’re in the park early for a breakfast ADR, you’re in but you can’t do anything other than go to your ADR. But you could get ahead of the line, but then you would be late to your 8:30am breakfast ADR if you had to wait until the park opened at 9am to register.

I agree with @starbee. If the park opens at 9, registration opens at 9. So you need to get the earliest breakfast possible – like 8am. They should let you in early (like 7:30-7:45) so you can walk back to your breakfast and get seated immediately. Do the breakfast but tell your server that you want to be out the door by 845 so hopefully he/she will bring you the check by 8:30. If you leave breakfast by 8:45 I would think you could walk over and get in line and be there before they open the park doors!

@starbee Maybe I misunderstood the person that was explaining it to me. They said the best way to ensure a spot is to make the breakfast reservation so you’re in the park before everyone else…maybe they weren’t speaking from experience and just assumed they could register before heading to their ADR.

@jamiedawn27 That’s a great idea! We may have to try that. We’ll be with a party of 13… my husband, son, and I might have to break from the large group and do this on our own to ensure we can actually get in and out of a breakfast reservation that quickly. Thanks for that idea!

I think this is your best bet. Otherwise, get there earlier than early, stay to the left, and run!

@Nascfan I’m getting anxiety just thinking about it!! LOL Stay to the left and RUN! No matter what, I’ll be in Disney World, so we’ll be fine…but man o man, I just want to see my son in the robe with the saber on that stage!!! We’re not even telling him until we know for sure he’s registered. :D

Or maybe that person meant what Jamie suggested. That would work for sure and would be the best thing to do if you want to make an ADR to help you get ahead. If you have others who can stay back for the check after you’re done eating, sounds like your plan of an 8am ADR will definitely work! If you’re in line by 8:45am or 9am (depending on the time of year you’re going) I think you’d get a spot. Aren’t there multiple shows a day?

Good tip @jamiedawn27 I didn’t know you had to have your child with you but that makes total sense

We’re going in October during a busy week, so I’m expecting some competition. :) WDW website states that they do 12-16 shows per day and they’ve double the capacity per show by adding the ground level stage, so it’s about 30 kids per show which is about 360-480 kids per day… so I figure I just need to be ahead of at least 150 people (in the case of multiple kids per family). When we go to Disney World we go with my husbands family so there’s 13 of us… the sit-down restaurants are the one thing my mother-in-law requests we do as the large family and an early reservation for breakfast that morning was vetoed… I’m okay with that. I told them we’re on our own that morning to ensure we can make it to the park before rope drop for best chance possible, so we’ll rope drop and run like the wind.
Thanks to everyone for the tips, ideas, feedback, and pixie dust! :tink:
