Hi! Halloween is my very favorite holiday! Do you celebrate? What are some of your favorite traditions? Do you pick out the perfect costume?

For me, I enjoy handing out candy to trick or treaters! I’ll be Mary Poppins this year for trick-or-treating. I usually host a Halloween party, but I am in a musical Halloween weekend, so I’m hoping a fellow castmate takes the reins for this. My party costume will be Moana! One of my Halloween traditions is to watch the Nightmare before Christmas on November 1. I enjoy the parties, the candy, the costumes… It is a testament to the fact that I refuse to grow up!

    What about you?

Your Halloween traditions sound amazing! I can’t wait to see your Mary Poppins and also Moana costumes :)

Every year we go to our friends house who decorate their entire front yard and front of their house with scary decorations. About 20 of us (adults) go an dress up in full costumes (some scary and some funny) and hand out candy to the kids. Their house is in a VERY busy populated area, and we usually have about 200 kids trick or treating each year. Its so much fun to see all of the kids dressed up! Every year my husband and I dress in Disney themed costumes… while our 14 year old son usually dresses in something scary. Our costumes this year are…. top secret until the October 31st reveal! :p Stay tuned!!

I don’t really have any traditions lately. We’ve been on vacation either during Halloween or right before, so I haven’t done any outdoor decorations but I do decorate inside :hatbox: again with being gone we’ve missed a lot of parties so haven’t really dressed up – except for MNSSHP! :sparrow:

But we always watch The Nightmare Before Christmas on the day of Halloween and eat a bunch of candy :pumpkin: when I was a kid my mom would take me and my younger brother to Target and we got to pick out a costume, then we’d go trick or treating. That was always fun. I guess whenever we start to be home around Halloween I’ll need to start some more traditions!

We do enjoy Halloween! :ghost: :pumpkin: :hatbox: We have a fair amount of decorations, some inside some out, and really enjoy handing out candy to the kiddos. It kind of kicks off the whole holiday season around our house! Looking forward to seeing the costumes!

You know what concept I never grasped? Walking from house to house trick-or-treating. Because… living in a community in the country, we had to drive to each person’s house! LOL

We’ve yet to have trick or treaters. There’s tons of kids in my neighborhood but churches do trick or treat events to keep kids safe and it seems they all go to those instead of house to house. Sad that it’s come to that

We love Halloween! We always decorate all the yard and porch with scary stuff. I even have an old fountain that I hook up with a black light and the water trickling down on the crumbling cherubs. I always hide a cd player in the bushes and it plays Hallowishes on repeat over and over for the trick or treaters. We usually have 300-400 come by.

This year, we aren’t doing any of that. We have a flight that LANDS at 7:30am that morning from several days at Universal Studios so we will just give out candy and then turn off the light and go to bed earlier than most Halloweens. Our daughter is dressing us as Hermione from Harry Potter this year.

Last year our other daughter was going through cancer treatment and was bald. So she dressed up like Charlie Brown and even drew the curl on her head! It was great!

Here too! Except for a few who were riding in the back pull along of a lawn mower – fresh air!

Step 1: Map out when to watch Nightmare Before Christmas and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Step 2: Decide costume. I was considering being a Newsie, but I’m keeping mine a secret for now. :|
Step 3: We used to go trick or treating every year. Last year, we were living in apartments for the first time and we just weren’t about that. So we went to the Grand Floridian because we heard they had some pumpkin carvings (every year on October 30 and 31, the CMs have a pumpkin carving contest at each Resort). Lo and behold, the Grand Floridian on Halloween is LIIIIIT! Completely opposite of sophisticated! They have trick or treat stations every where and free (originally retired popcorn) buckets and a dance party and you can meet Mickey and and and…..

I have intentions of visiting GFr again :mickey:

    We don’t decorate though :ghost:

I agree! Seeing all the trick-or-treaters is one of my favorite parts. I’ll be sad when our little community decides to use alternative Halloween treat giving out!

I forgot one of my traditions to share! I have to watch It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! with one of my very best friends. We order Chinese take-out and watch it as intently as we did the first time we saw it.

Since we live in an apartment our decorating is pretty limited and we only get maybe 4-5 trick or treaters.
However, I always dress up. Fortunately we do a costume contest at work (3 other girls and I dressed up as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last year and won for funniest costume) and they do a little something for us (photo booth, candied apples) which is nice.

Halloween used to be the best. I used to take the day off before it and carve pumpkins. I always carved Jack, Sally and Zero and many others. I stopped because the kids kept destroying my decorations.

Now I dont even give out candy. Light is off.

I’m not much at all for Halloween. But that makes me very sad. I’m sorry buddy. :'(
